Al Capone

The first on the list is Al Capone. Between 1925-1931 AL Capone was the most powerful mob boss in all of Chicago. Born in Brooklyn, you Capone joined the James Street Boys gang in his youth. That’s where he met his mentor and best friend Johnny Torrio. He followed Tarrio into Chicago and helped him with his bootlegging business. 

 He used extreme violence to hold his power, along with very public executions of his rivals in the valentine’s day massacre in 1929 made him unpopular. With later gave him the label ¨public enemy no. 1¨. With public pressure to put Capone behind bars, the government was able to send tax evasion which sent him to prison in 1931. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison than in 1947 he suffered a stroke and died.

Bugsy Siegel.

Next, we have Bugsy Siegel. Born in Brooklyn, New york Bugsy was mostly known for being a mafia hitman and enforcer.as a close business partner to Meyer Lansky Bugsy got involved with bootlegging and gambling. Then co-founded murder inc. 

 In 1936 Bugsy moved to California to develop rackets out there for the mob bosses on the east coast. He began courting the favor of Hollywood celebrities and gained some fame himself with his good looks and charm. Evantley he began making casinos in Las Vegas Nevada. And with the help of his girlfriend Virginia Hill, he pocketed some of the mob funds which were for constraint. At the rage of his disloyalty, Lansky and the east coast hired a hitman. In 1947 at the age of 41, Bugsy Siegel met his end when a barrage of bullets killed him at his girlfriend’s house.

 Lucky Luciano

 Lucky was born in 1897 in Sicily but was raised in New york. Lucky played a significant role in designing the national crime syndicate and is considered the architect behind the modern well-ordered crime in America. Thanks to his habitual governing body in the commission in 1931. In this decade luck became the most powerful mob boss as the head of the Genovese crime family.

He was able to shorten his sentence for aiding U.S navy security measures during world war ll. He was deported back to Italy where he managed to run his drug operations in the U.S. in 1962 when he died of a heart attack at an airport in Naples.

 John Gotti

 Also known as “the dapper don” for his love of fine suits and media coverage. John became the most powerful mob boss in America in the 1980s. He was born in Queens, New york. John was known for his reckless temperament. Which he exhibited after paying a hitman on his Gambino crime boss, Paul Castellano in 1985. After the assignation john took over and made millions in a variety of criminal actives. From prostitution and loan sharking to illegal gambling and narcotics distribution. 

 Although he was able to avoid pion many times in the 1980s earning the nickname “Teflon Don” the police were forced to pursue and build a case against john. With the help of Jones seconded in command “Sammy the Bull”, John was finally able to be placed behind bars in 1992 for multiple crimes, including five counts of murder, tax evasion, and racketeering. 2002 he died of throat cancer in a Missouri federal prison. 

 Vito Genovese

With an insatiable appetite for power and money, Vito Genovese is known for having both empowers the American mafia as well as compromising it by the end of his reign. Born in 1897 Naples, Vito moved to Manhattan when he was a teenager. He rose into power during prohibition and had close ties with Luciano, helping him build the commission.

Attempting to run from a murder charge Vito fled to Italy and started a heroin operation in u.s from there. During world war II he supported Benito Mussolini fascist efforts but was inevitably caught and shipped back to u.s to face his murder charge. After the key witness was murdered (suspicious) Vito was set free and proceeded to clean house – murdering a number of his enemies without discretion- and reinstituting his power among the crime families in New York City. Vito’s indentation of his underling, Joe Valachi prompted the latter to be the first American gangster to reveal any secrets about the organization that needed to become a government witness. 1958 Vito went to prison for possessing and distributing narcotics. He died from a heart attack in Missouri prison 11 years later.
