Everything You Need to Know about the Coronavirus

Where did the Corona virus come from?

Though it has not been clear where the Corona virus came from, scientists are still trying to figure it out. It doesn’t necessarily help them find a vaccine for it, but looking into it may be able to benefit us.

There are many different theories about how COVID-19 started, and scientists are looking at how previous viruses that are similar to the Corona virus started to find out. They also believe that the disease came from an animal. They just need to figure out what animal. Some think it may have come from a bat.

The first person to get it was working at a seafood restaurant in Wuhan.

She began to feel sick, and decided that it was just a small cold. She went to a small clinic nearby to get some treatment, and went back to work. About a week later, she was lying in a hospital bed barely conscious.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19 and what should you do?

The virus can cause pneumonia. The main symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If you have these symptoms, stay indoors and try not to have contact with other people. Especially if you have just recently traveled to a place that has tested positive for Corona virus.

However, sometimes it is difficult to tell if you have Corona or just a small cold. This situation is similar to when the first person got the Corona virus. Since it is the season known for getting sick, people have to be extra careful with what they are spreading, and what they are getting. So just to be safe, stay home and see a doctor.

If these symptoms are getting even worse and are very serious, for example you have an extremely high fever,  it is CRUCIAL that you go and see a doctor as soon as POSSIBLE. Whether or not you have traveled out of the country!

What should you do to avoid Corona virus?

The best thing we can do to avoid getting Corona virus is to be prepared if it does happen to you. For example, make sure you have enough food and water. Take proper precautions, and be better aware of hygiene. Clean your hands more often. Especially after you use the restroom, and before eating meals.

The proper way to wash your hands is to wet your hands with running water, apply soap, lather your hands with it. This includes underneath your nails, the backs of your hands, and in between your fingers. You should be washing your hands for at least 20 seconds.

How many people have been affected by the Corona virus?

As of March 9, over 110,000 people have been infected with the virus in more than 80 countries. There have been over 3,800 deaths from the Corona virus. Just over 3,00 of those deaths occurred in China, where the virus started. 62,000 people have recovered from it.

Have there been other Corona viruses?

Severe acute respiratory syndrome, also known as SARS, and Middle Eastern respiratory syndrome, also known as MERS, are both caused by corona viruses that came from animals.

The Guardian states, “In 2002, SARS spread virtually unchecked to 37 countries, causing global panic, infecting more than 8,000 people and killing more than 750. MERS appears to be less easily passed from human to human, but has greater lethality, killing 35% of about 2,500 people who have been infected.”

What has happened to our supplies for COVID-19?

Ever since the Corona virus has been spreading all over the globe, people have started to prepare themselves. Many things at popular stores are selling completely out. Certain things can no longer be bought online either. These things include toilet paper, bottled water, hand sanitizer, soap, bleach, and many other items.

In conclusion, we should always be washing our hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and we should try to be as healthy as we can be. We should also prepare ourselves by getting the necessary supplies that we need. This way we can avoid COVID-19 as much as possible.
