Belle Gunness is one of the most famous female serial killers of all time, and I guess you could say she loved her suitors to death. First, how she got all of these men to come over to her farm and stay there. Next, what she did on the farm and what she told the men when they arrived. Lastly, how she got away and was never seen again. Belle disappeared in May 1908.

The Ad

Firstly, this woman had been a widow twice so it was the perfect plan to make an ad for a suitor. All of the men came with the promise of a wife and a shared pig farm. But they did not know that she had three kids. This is what the ad stated “Personal — comely widow who owns a large farm in one of the finest districts in La Porte County, Indiana, desires to make the acquaintance of a gentleman equally well provided, with the view of joining fortunes. No replies by letter considered unless the sender is willing to follow the answer with a personal visit. Triflers need not apply”.

The Farm

In addition, when the men or suitors came she told them you can never contact your family or friends again. According to the article “Female Indiana serial killer, the ‘comely’ Belle Gunness, loved her suitors to death” by Indystar, it explains that she would bury the bodies on her farm. Although when she disappeared there were a few in her home including one that was headless. But she mostly killed the men to get their money and it all because she would convince them to leave it all to her. 

Disappearance

Lastly, when she got away she lit her house on fire. Apparently, she kept three bodies in there to look like she had never left and had died in the fire. There was one headless body in the building which they could not figure out why she left that one in there. And the female body that was in the house was her housekeeper. They found that one after they inspected the building.

In conclusion, Belle Gunness was one of the more famous female serial killers in the history of female serial killers. First, the ad she talked about to get them to the house and the promises she had made. Secondly, what she did on the farm and where she put the bodies. And lastly, what she did to escape them finding her. That is why Belle is one of the most famous serial killers.
