5 basic rules of soccer

5 basic rules of soccer

In this article, you will learn 5 awesome soccer rules and some fun facts about soccer positions.

Rule 1: NO HANDS.

Soccer is a sport using your feet. Your goal is to pass around and play through the defense to score a goal and your other job is to defend your goal. But while defending and playing you CAN NOT use your hands UNLESS you are a goalie or you are throwing the ball in. Goalies can use their hands to grab the ball before it goes into the goal. And when the ball goes out of bounds you can grab it and throw it in.

Rule 2: Throw-ins

Throw-ins happen when the ball goes out of bounds. If your team kicks the ball out then the other team gets to throw it at one of their teammates. And if their team kicks the ball out then you get to throw it into one of your teammates. The three rules that go with throw-ins are: It has to be over your head. You have to throw the ball in over your head or they will blow the whistle and the other team gets the ball. You also cannot step over the line and into the field when you throw it in or it will be the other team’s ball. The last rule for throw-ins is you cannot lift your leg. Both legs have to be on the ground or, you guessed it, it will be the other team’s ball.

Rule 3: Free Kicks and Corner Kicks

Free kicks happen when a foul occurs if someone fouls you(Which I will explain in the next paragraph) then you get to kick the ball from where the foul happened, and this is a good thing because you can kick it to their side so you can get a head start and score. Also if free kicks happen in the goal box then you get to kick the ball into the goal, and the only person stopping you is the goalie, the other players have to stand outside the box, so it’s really easy to score. How corner kicks occur, is when the ball goes out of bounds in the corner of the goal. If the other team kicks it out you place the ball on the corner of the field and kick it. And if you’re lucky one of your teammates will be in the center and they will kick it into the goal.

Rule 4: Fouls

As I explained in the previous paragraph, foals give people a big advantage in soccer so make sure you try not to be too aggressive. Fouls are when someone hurts another player or they grab onto their arm or something like that. Fouls can happen in a lot of different ways. And if you get too many fouls the referee will give you a yellow card which means you have to sit out for the rest of the game. So make sure you’re careful when taking the ball from other people because you don’t want to hurt them too much.

Rule 5: Offsides

Offside is something a lot of people don’t understand or don’t get so I am going to try to explain this very well. When you play an upper position it can be hard to see where the half line is. And offside can happen a lot for you. Offside is when one of your teammates has the ball and you are behind the defense on their side, that’s not offside until your teammate passes to you. When your teammate passes to you and you are behind the defenders the referee will call an offside and the other team gets a free kick.

Rule 6: Positions

This isn’t a “rule”. But there must usually be 11 players on the field when you are ages 11 and up. The positions are forwards, midfielders, defenders, goalies, and wings. And there are multiple of those positions. I could explain what all of the positions are and do but that would take up too much space.

In conclusion, I hope you learned a lot about soccer and now you can get better and grow with these rules. These rules will help you to succeed and I hope you use them well.

Rocket League: The Ultimate E-sport

Rocket League: The Ultimate E-sport

Rocket League

If someone mentions to you the name “Rocket League”, unless you have heard of the game, you will most likely think it’s a game that has “rockets” and it’s some sort of league. Nope, not even close.

Rocket League is a game that essentially could be named “car soccer”, let me explain. “Car soccer” is essentially a game where you are placed in the third-person view of a car. This car can do many things your normal car can’t such as; (double) jumping, flipping, boosting, and flying in the air.

The game arrived in stores for $20 in mid-2015 and was a small game. A sequel to the infamous game, with the infamous name, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. or SARPBC, try pronouncing that.

The entire game was placed inside a boxed-off stadium and had little “egg” people in the stands cheering and bouncing up and down. Customizable cars and goal explosions are also an option. These customizable items have different rarities, starting from uncommon, then going to rare, very rare, import, exotic, and finally, black market. The game’s currency is called “credits” and is $1 for 100 credits.

The game just recently went out in stores as “Free To Play” and that brought an UNHEARD amount of players, sometimes having over 1 million players online at a time! Since then the game has declined in popularity, but still racks in more players a day than before the game went free to play.

Mechanics

The game has many mechanics that involve such things as I mentioned before. The basics of these mechanics are:

  •  Ariels, hitting the ball while in the air
  •  Wave-dashes, front flipping before you hit the ground to propel yourself forward
  • Double taps, hitting the ball into the back wall of the opponents net
  • Air dribble, dribbling the ball in the air
  • Dribbles, carrying the ball on top of your car without it touching the ground
  • Flicks, flicking the ball while dribbling.

Now, these are the bare bones, almost anyone can do these things mechanics. Some of these are harder than others, but most anyone above the rank of platinum can do ALL (or should be able to).

Speaking of ranks, in the competitive playlist, depending on how good you are, the game will give you a rank. Every win you get, you get a certain amount of MMR (MatchMaking Rank). The higher in the ranks you go, the harder it gets, or longer it takes to get to that next rank. Ranks have levels to them, there is division 1-4, and different levels for the actual name of the rank.

Rankings (From worst to best)

  • Bronze 1 Division 1-4
  • Bronze 2 Division 1-4
  • Bronze 3 Division 1-4
  • Silver 1 Div 1-4
  • Silver 2 Div 1-4
  • Silver 3 Div 1-4
  • Platinum 1 Div 1-4
  • Platinum 2 Div 1-4
  • Platinum 3 Div 1-4
  • Diamond 1 Div 1-4
  • Diamond 2 Div 1-4
  • Diamond 3 Div 1-4
  • Champion 1 Div 1-4
  • Champion 2 Div 1-4
  • Champion 3 Div 1-4
  • Grand Champion 1 Div 1-4
  • Grand Champion 2 Div 1-4
  • Grand Champion 3 Div 1-4
  • Super Sonic Legend (Max)
  • Ranks.jpeg

A lot to take in, I know. But this is the thing you say when someone asks you, “What rank are you?”

The Pros

Now the juicy stuff, the actual Esports. Rocket League has had some form of Esport since the first year it came out (mid-2015) and has had many graphics, mechanic, and community changes. This includes changes to the pros, and their level of skill compared to the “Average Joe” Over time the number of pros has increased, and with that, it brought more and more teams.

The Life Of Neymar So Far

The Life Of Neymar So Far

Early Life

Neymar da Silva Santos Jr was born on February 5, 1992, in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo, Brazil. He was raised with soccer in his life because his dad was a former professional soccer player. In 1999, he joined the Portuguesa Santista youth club. When he was eleven, he joined the youth system of Santos FC. When he was 14, news of his talents spread to Europe, and the club Real Madrid C.F offered to take him in and train him. The Santos team’s management convinced him to stay with a large bonus. In 2019, he earned the Santos league’s Best Young Player award. In 2010, he helped Santos win both the Copa do Brasil and the league championships en-route to three scoring titles in a row and four Player of the Year awards in a row. In 2011, he scored what would be voted the FIFA goal of the year and helped lead Santos to its first-ever Copa Libertadores championship in 48 years. On his birthday in 2012, Neymar scored his 100th professional goal and finished the year with a career-best of 43 goals.

Playing for FC Barcelona

In May 2013, Neymar announced that he was switching teams to FC Barcelona. Not long afterward, he led Brazil to the win in the 2013 Confederations Cup. During the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, only minutes before Brazil won its quarterfinal match against Columbia, Neymar has carried off the field in a stretcher after breaking a bone in his back because of a challenge from Columbian defender Juan Zuniga. Neymar scored 39 goals during the 2014-15 season, which helped the club achieve the coveted treble by winning league, domestic, and European Cup titles. In the following year, after Barcelona became La Liga champions, Neymar scored in extra time to propel the team to another Copa Del Ray title. He was suspended during the 2015 Copa America, which got rid of pretty much any chance Brazil had of making an extended run. The following year, he sat out of the tournament to stay rested and healthy for the 2016 Rio Olympics, which was a move that worked great for Brazil. Neymar scored multiple key goals to put his team ahead before scoring the winning penalty kick and winning Brazil its first men’s soccer gold medal.

Playing for Paris Saint-Germain

In August 2017, Neymar began playing for the French club Paris Saint-Germain. His time with Paris Saint-Germain was off to a good start until he suffered a broken foot, ending his season after 30 games. The following season he suffered another foot injury but recovered soon enough to help his team win the Ligue 1 title. While already being known for his theatrics on the field, Neymar came under fire during his second season with PSG when he heavily criticized the officials after a loss to Manchester United during the Champions League in March. This action earned him a three-game suspension for upcoming Champions League games. In August 2011, Neymar and his former girlfriend had a son which they named David Lucca.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo

Early Life

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro was born on February 5, 1985, in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. He is the youngest of the four children had by Maria Dolores dos Santos and José Dinis Aveiro. Ronaldo’s dad was the one who introduced him to soccer in the beginning because he worked as an equipment manager at a boys club. His early life was pretty tough, seeing as his family did not have a large amount of money, so to keep everyone fed and keep some financial stability, his mom worked as a cook and a cleaning person. In 2005, when he was playing for Manchester United, his father died of kidney problems because of his drinking. In 2007, his mother struggled with breast cancer. The death of his dad was especially hard for him because he and his dad were close. He had always pushed for his father to go to rehab, but his father always refused. Even when Cristiano was younger, he loved soccer so much that he would even sometimes escape out of his bedroom window with a ball when he was supposed to be doing homework.

Beginning His Career

In one of his performances with Portugal against Manchester United, the opposing team was so amazed by his talent that many of Manchester’s players asked their manager to try and get him on their team. In 2001, when he was just 16, Manchester United paid more than £12 million to have Ronaldo signed. In 2004, while playing for Manchester in the FA cup final, he scored their first three goals and helped them win the championship. In 2007, Ronaldo signed a contract with Manchester for five years, where they paid him £31 million. Only one year later, he helped the club in one of their best seasons in history, setting a record of 42 goals in one season, which earned him a FIFA world player of the year award for 2008. In the time that he spent playing for Manchester United, he ended up helping them to 3 premier league titles. In 2009, Real Madrid, a Spanish soccer club, offered to pay Manchester United a record of 131 million dollars to sign Ronaldo.

In 2018, the Italian Serie A club Juventus offered to pay Real Madrid $140 million to join their team. After he left Real, he wrote an open letter on their website that read, “These years at Real Madrid and in this city of Madrid have quite possibly been the happiest years of my life. I only have feelings of great gratitude to this club, to the fans and to the city. I can only give thanks to all of them for the love and affection that I have received.” During his first season with Juventus, he scored ten times in his first fourteen games. After leading his team to its eighth consecutive Serie A title, he was named the league’s MVP in May 2019. On July 10, 2016, while being his national team’s captain, he led Portugal to the European championship against France.

In my opinion, one of Ronaldo’s best quotes is “Listen, I’m not going to change the world. You’re not going to change the world. But we can help, we can all help.”

Messi’s career and home life

Messi’s career and home life

Lionel Messi

Early life in Rosario

Luis Lionel Andres (Leo) Messi is a pro soccer player. He was born on June 24, 1987, in Rosario, Argentina. When he was a young boy, he played soccer with his two older brothers and their friends, unintimidated by the older and bigger boys. When he was 8, he got recruited to join the Rosario-based club system of Newell’s old boys. He was noticeably smaller than the kids in his age group and was eventually diagnosed with a hormone deficiency which restricted his growth. His parents, Jorge and Ceclia decided on nightly growth hormone injections for their son but realized that it would be impossible to pay the several hundred dollars a month for the medication. When he was 13, he got recruited to train at FC Barcelona’s youth academy, La Masia, while also having his medical bills covered by the team. Messi’s family gladly moved across the Atlantic to make a new home in Spain. Even though he was often homesick in his new country, he quickly advanced through the junior system’s ranks. With his being 5 foot 7 inches and his relentless attacking style, he has even gotten compared to the pro soccer player Diego Maradona. Messi has only ever played for FC Barcelona, where he has played with them since he was 13.

Messi’s Pro Teams

He also plays for the national team of Argentina. By the time he was 16, he had made his first appearance for Barcelona as he put himself in the record books on May 1, 2005, by being the youngest player to score a goal for the franchise. During the same year, he led Argentina to the Under 20 World cup by scoring on a pair of penalty kicks to put the team ahead of Nigeria. In 2009 he led Barcelona to win the Champions League, La Liga, and Spanish Super Cup titles. During that year, he also earned his first FIFA ” World Player Of The Year” trophy. In 2010 and 2011, he led Barcelona to La Liga and Spanish Super Cup and the ’11 Champions League titles. In 2012, Messi went on an assault on the record books when he became the first player to score five goals in a champions league match in early March and a few weeks later, passed Cesar Rodriguez’s club record 232 goals which put him as Barcelona’s all-time leading scorer. By the end of 2012, Messi had accumulated 91 goals in club and international games, which surpassed the previous number of goals scored in one year which was 85 goals, and was held by Gerd Muller in 1972. In January 2013, he broke another record when he was named FIFA Ballon d’Or winner for the fourth time in a row. Messi broke another record in late 2014 when he became the all-time leading scorer in La Liga and Champions League play. In 2015 after helping Barcelona achieve a second treble, he was given his fifth Ballon d’Or trophy. In another four years, Messi had gained another La Liga title and was given his sixth ballon d’Or trophy soon after that. In 2016 after Argentina’s second loss to Chile in the finals of the Copa America tournament. Very soon after that, he announced that he was done being with the team which was a decision that he soon went back on. As of 2019, Messi had 687 appearances and 603 goals scored during his career with Barcelona. On August 10, 2021, Messi left Barcelona and joined the French club Paris Saint-Germain.

4. Soccer (Football)

Soccer is made up of two forty-five minute halves. The field is made up of fake or real grass. A soccer game must have one referee and two assistant referees. Both teams can have seven substitution players but only three of them can be used per game per side. Both teams are allowed 7 people on the field at a time. The team that makes the ball into the other team’s goal gets points, the team with the most points wins the game at the end.  Each team can have five players on the field at any time. Substitutions are made as they wish, as many times as they wish. The ball can only be moved by dribbling or passing the ball. If the ball goes to the other side and the other side gets the ball, they have to take it back to the halfway line, if they fail to do so, it’s a foul, and it gets turned over to the other team. The team trying to make a goal is called the offense team, while the team trying to stop them is called the defense team. After a successful shot is made, the ball will be turned over to the other team
