The BYU Cougars beat the Utah Utes, remain undefeated, and move up to be ranked #11 in the nation

In a huge rivalry matchup between the previously ranked 6-0 #15 BYU Cougars and the 5-1 #23 ranked Utah Utes, the BYU Cougars came out of the very close 21-24 football game as the big dogs of the Big 12 conference.

This huge BYU Cougars – Utah Utes rivalry (Known to many as the Holy War) has gone back many years for the two big Utah colleges. The Utes are winning in the all-time series with 58 wins, 34 losses, and they have four ties. They dominated the early history of this rivalry. The Cougars have won this Holy War for the past three years.

In last year’s game BYU was backed up deep in the 4th quarter, losing 19 to 21, and Jake Retzlaff (BYU’s Quarterback last year) kept needing to throw the ball away because of Utah’s relentless pressure. It was fourth down with 10 yards to go. BYU was on their own nine yard line. Retzlaff snapped the ball in shotgun formation and no one was open. Karene Reid got to him and sacked him on the one yard line. BYU was devastated. Then, a flag was thrown onto the field. The refs called it a hold on Utah’s cornerback. It was definitely a debatable call but the corner did grab the BYU player’s jersey. That would be a 10 yard penalty, and a first down. BYU would go on to get plenty of first downs and set up their kicker Will Ferrin to kick a 44 yard field goal. He made it with three seconds left in the game. The Utes were not able to score on the kickoff and BYU would win 22 to 21.

The most recent game was on Saturday October 18, 2025. Before the game that would take place at LaVell Edwards Stadium BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said, “I’m looking forward to the game and I know the players are, too. Our guys know there is a lot of work to be done the next few days so we can perform at our best against Utah”.

The game kicked off at 6:00 pm MST. The Utes won the toss and elected to differ (Kick first and get the ball at the beginning of the second half of the game). The Utah Utes Kicker Dillon Curtis kicked a touchback past the endzone. BYU would get it at the 25 yard line. They would go to get a couple of first downs but end up punting after a 3rd and 7 sack by John Henry Daley.

On the Utes drive, They drove the ball all the way up to BYU’s 12 yard line, and had to make a 4th and 1 decision. Their offense stepped up to the field, and they were going for it on this 4th and 1. The Utes quarterback Devon Dampier motioned their running back Daniel Bray from the right side. Dampier handed the ball off to Bray but he was tackled at the line of scrimmage by BYU’s corner Mory Bamba.

After this BYU and the Utes would get one more try but the game was still scoreless. At the beginning of the second quarter, BYU took it to the 17 yard line in Utes territory. BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier snapped the ball and faked the handoff to running back LJ Martin. Bear threw the ball to Wide Receiver Chase Roberts who caught it in the endzone. BYU would strike first blood.

BYU and the Utes went back and forth not scoring after that. Then, with 3:24 left in the half, the Utes’ Dampier hit tight end Ryan Davis in the endzone.

After that, BYU was punting, and the Utes fumbled the ball on the return with 2:21 left. BYU had recovered it. BYU would finish that drive with a field goal. The score at the end of the half? 10-7.

There was no scoring in the 3rd quarter. But, really early in the 4th, Daniel Bray ran it into the endzone to give the Utes the lead.

In BYU’s drive RIGHT after this, BYU drove the ball all the way up the field, and ended with their receiver Parker Kingston running it into the endzone with 11:19 left in the 4th. After this Dampier threw a ball deep across the field and it was intercepted by BYU’s Tanner Wall. BYU would go to score off of a Bear Bachmeier rushing touchdown with 4:22 to go in the game.

With 1:24 left, the Utes went and scored a touchdown. They were now down three, with the score being 21-24. Utah went for an onside kick and had recovered it! But they then found out that a Utes player had kicked it before it crossed 10 yards. This would mean BYU would get the ball back.

BYU would run the clock out and then win the Holy War 24-21. They were also ranked 11 in the nation after this win. The Utes on the other hand went from 23 to not even ranked

BYU football has amazing 5-0 start

BYU football has amazing 5-0 start

BYU football has amazing 5-0 start

BYU just beat the West Virginia Mountaineers to go 5-0. A week ago, they beat the Colorado Buffaloes 24-21 to go 4-0. Two weeks ago, they beat East Carolina 34-13 to go 3-0 for three straight seasons. That was the first time in BYU football’s program history to record that. It was a pretty big landmark for the team, and its fans.

This year the BYU fandom was excited for Jake Retzlaff (The Quarterback) to lead BYU to another great season. He put up amazing stats in the 2024-25 season with 2,947 yards, 20 passing touchdowns, 417 rushing yards, and six rushing touchdowns. He led the 11-2 football team to an Alamo Bowl victory over the 25 ranked, 9-4 Colorado Buffaloes, who had the Wide Receiver and Cornerback Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. The score to that game was 36-14. He had 151 passing yards that game. He helped BYU end the season ranked 13. BYU fans around the world were excited to do even better this year with Jake Retzlaff in his Senior Year. Then, in July, news got out that he had violated the Honor Code.

BYU was willing to give him a seven game suspension, but he withdrew from BYU, unwilling to suffer the suspension. He entered the transfer portal, ending up in Tulane. This was a devastating blow to the BYU offense.

Then, in May, Bear Bachmeier, a 19 year old true freshman quarterback from Stanford, transferred to BYU with his Junior brother Tiger Bachmeier, a wide receiver. On August 19, Bear was announced as BYU’s starting Quarterback. This would be the first time BYU has ever had a true freshman get the starting QB job. Everybody was excited to see how he would do, after getting many praises from head coach Kalane Sitake.

On August 30, Bear led the team out wearing the number 47. In that game, he went 7-11 with 97 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was pulled out of the game at halftime, with the score being 49-0, BYU way on top. The game ended 69-0, with BYU setting a program record with their largest shutout. Another star of this game was Jack Kelly who recovered a blocked field goal, and took it into the endzone.

In their second game against Stanford, Bear came out showing he was made for the job. He went 17-27 with 175 passing yards. To put a little cherry on top, he had a rushing touchdown. He was gaining more, and more trust by the second. In the third game against the 2-1 East Carolina, he came out gunning even harder. He went 18-25 with 246 passing yards, one passing touchdown, 26 rushing yards, and yet another touchdown. The other star of that game was the cornerback Evan Johnson with two interceptions, one being a single yard pick six.

In their game against the Colorado Buffaloes, they won in a close matchup ending up 24-21. Bear Bachmeier threw 19-27 and 179 yards on passing, while rushing for a career high 98 yards. He had two passing touchdowns.

Now we’re gonna skip over to the Senior Wide Receiver, Chase Roberts. He had 5 receptions, adding up to 49 receiving yards. That doesn’t sound like much, but he also had two receiving touchdowns.

Now to tell you how this game ended, it was tight in the 4th quarter. Bear Bachmeier and Colorado’s QB Kaidon Salter were going back and forth at each other. BYU was losing 17-21, and then Cody Hagen gave them the lead with a 32 yard touchdown run. The Buffaloes got the back and then, with 50 seconds left something amazing happened for BYU. Salter was getting pressured on a pass by Jack Kelly and scrambled out right. He threw it, and BYU LB Isaiah Glasker intercepted it to seal the win.

After the game Bear Bachmeier said, “Sorry I’m getting a little choked up, but that’s just how I was raised. My dad, my mom, my older siblings, my younger brother… you gotta have that mentality, you gotta go get that 1st down. You gotta do whatever you gotta do to win.”

In their last and most recent game against West Virginia, BYU took over in a 38-24 win. Bear Bachmeier threw for 351 yards and one touchdown. He also had 43 rushing yards and one more rushing touchdown. Chase Roberts caught four passes for 161 yards. Another receiver Parker Kingston, had 111 receiving yards with another touchdown. He had a one yard rushing touchdown on top of that.

Next game, they are playing against the 4-1 Arizona Wildcats which will be a tough matchup against this other Big 12 team.

BYU Takes Down West Virginia 73-69 On The Road In A Must-Win Game

Egor Demin with the ball Facts about BYU and West Virginia.

BYU Men’s Basketball was coming off a two-game losing streak heading into this must-win game on Tuesday night. They are 7-6 in conference games and are on the bubble for the NCAA March Madness Tournament.

They came into the game as slight underdogs needing a win. As the game progressed, neither team gained a big edge over the other, with West Virginia up 34-32 at the break.

Richy saunders, playing basketball.
Richy Saunders hits a three for BYU.

This game wasn’t just important for BYU though, as West Virginia was in the same position as the Cougars, both teams had the same records in conference and out of it. So, this game was very important.

Coming out of half it was still a close game with both teams going back and forth at each other. But eventually, BYU started to pull away. Then like you would expect West Virginia brought it back to a 1-point game with about 20 seconds left in the second half. BYU had the ball with the shot clock running down. Their big man, Mihailo Boskovic set a screen and rolled, Richy Saunders the guard passed the ball and Mihailo got an And-1 to seal the game for the Cougars. The final score was 73-69 Cougars win.

Scoring Leaders/ Impact Players

The scoring leader in this game was BYU’s 5-star freshman recruit Egor Demin. Denim had 16 points in 24 minutes, with 2 assists, and 3 rebounds. Another big impact player was BYU’s other freshman with 11 points, and 4 rebounds in 18 minutes. Richy Saunders for BYU had a quiet night compared to usual with only 9 points in 36 minutes, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Richy Saunders has been BYU’s star over the past 10 games averaging 15 points per game while shooting 50.6 percent from the field.

With this win, BYU is now 7-6 in conference and 16-8 through all their games. But this win was just the first of a 4 game streak of playing really good teams. In their next game on Saturday, they are hosting Kansas State who is coming off a 6-game win streak with 3 of those games being to good teams including #3 Iowa State, #11 Kansas, and most recently #13 Arizona. Then BYU follows that game up with hosting now #17 Kansas. After Kansas, they go to Arizona to play a tough road game.

Why This Was A Must-Win Game

The reason this was a must-win game is because we are more than halfway through the season and March Madness is coming up in less than a month. BYU was on a 2 game-losing streak with 2 more hard games coming up in the next week and a half. So if they lost not only would they drop below .500(which means you are 50-50 in wins and losses so if you dropped below it, you would have more losses than wins.) in conference play, but they would also have the potential to go on a 5 game losing streak. With this win and boosted confidence BYU will have a much better chance to defeat Kansas State on Saturday.

As of right now, BYU has a 36 percent chance of making it into the March Madness Tournament. These odds could increase by a lot though if they win 1 or even better both of their next 2 games. They will need all of their players, especially Egor Demin and Richy Saunders to step up their game if they want to make it to the Tourney. If BYU makes it to the Tourney it would be the second year in a row, although they would want to have a better outcome than last year when they lost to the #11 seed Duquesne in the first round.

March Madness sign.

I believe BYU will make it to the Tourney if their players show up and play well. Even though the odds are against them, wins in these next 2 games could change everything.

2024 NBA playoffs predictions.

2024 NBA playoffs predictions.

At this point in the NBA playoffs, the Minnesota Timberwolves have beat the Phoenix Suns 4-0 and are the only team to move on to the second round. The New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, and Indiana Pacers are up in their series 3-1. The OKC Thunder are 3-0 in their series and the Boston Celtics are up 2-1 in their series. The LA Clippers and the Cleveland Cavaliers are both 2-2 in their series.

Now my predictions are that in the New York Knicks Philadelphia 76ers series, the New York Knicks will win in 6 games, move on to the second round, and play against the Indiana Pacers who will win in 7 games almost allowing the Milwaukee Bucks to win. My next prediction in the east is that the Boston Celtics will win in game 5  and go against the Cavaliers who will win in game 6. Heading to the west I believe the Nuggets will beat the Lakers in game 5 to play the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round. The Thunder will sweep the Pelicans in 4 games and play the Mavericks who will win in game 6.

In the second round, my predictions are that the Timberwolves will beat the Nuggets in 5 games and play the Mavericks in the conference finals who will beat the Thunder in game 6. I predict that the Boston Celtics will beat the Cavaliers in 6 games and go against the New York Knicks who will beat the Indiana Pacers in 7 games. Now the final teams in my prediction for the NBA playoffs are as follows. In the western conference finals Minnesota Timberwolves vs Dallas Mavericks and the east conference finals are the Boston Celtics vs the New York Knicks. Now game 1 in the conference finals my predictions are that the Celtics will win by 7 and the Timberwolves will win by 12. In the next game ( game 2 ) the Knicks will win against the Celtics by 5 and the Timberwolves will win by 6. In the east, the Celtics are tied in their series 1-1, and in the west, the Minnesota Timberwolves are winning their series 2-0. Things aren’t looking good for Luka and the Mavsthere is a reason Mark Cuban sold the team. Anyways, In the next two games the Celtics will once again trade games with the Knicks and their series will go 2-2 but on the other hand, the Mavericks will take one game but then lose game 4. Celtics vs Knicks tied 2-2 and the Timberwolves vs  Mavericks, wolves winning 3-1. In the next game the Timberwolves will move on to the NBA finals and the Celtics will move on in game 6…

2024 NBA finals Boston Celtics against the Minnesota Timberwolves. In game 1 the Celtics will win 96 to 90 game 2 the Wolves will win 102 to 95 and in game 3 the Wolves will win again 89 to 78 Things are looking great for Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves, they are up 2-1 in the finals and are 2 wins away from winning it all. But they can’t celebrate too soon, The Boston Celtics will win the next game and now the series is headed to game 5 with the series tied 2-2. In a nail-biting game the Wolves will win and will now go up 3-2 in the series. Heading to game 6 all the Wolves have to do is win one more game. In the 4th quarter of game 6, the Wolves are down by 6 with 75 seconds left and they somehow come back and win the NBA finals!!!!!!

Anthony Edwards at the age of 22 won Finals MVP and his first ever NBA finals win.

The Top 10 NBA Players Of All Time!!!!

The Top 10 NBA Players Of All Time!!!!

There have been roughly 4,000 to 5,000 NBA players and only ten of them made this list. From 5’’2 Mugsey Boges to 7’’7  Manute Bol, These are the greatest.

10.Wilt Chamberlain

Wilt Chamberlain is mostly known for his unbreakable records.  He once scored 100 points in a game and averaged 27 rebounds per game. He also played in an era where he was taller than 99% of the league so that is why he made it so low.

9. Bill Russell

Bill  was born to Katie and Charlie Louis Russell and  lived in Monroe, Louisiana. Growing up everybody knew he’d be something special. He went to San Francisco to play college basketball and then got drafted to the Boston Celtics in 1956. He is mostly known for having the record of the most NBA finals won of all time being 11. But like Wilt he was taller than 99% of the league.

8. Larry Bird

Larry Bird “Bird Man” might not be seen like an NBA player physically but boy y’all are wrong. Bird was one of the best shooters in his era and was at the top of his game during the mid 80’s.  He won 3 NBA championships and won MVP 3 times as well.

7. Tim Duncan

People might be mad at me for this one but I’m telling you there are 6 NBA players better than Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan won 5 NBA championships and won 2 NBA MVP awards.

He was an elite defender and was an amazing post player.

6. Erving “Magic” Johnson

Magic Johnson was super blessed with amazing eye vision and an amazing sized body. Standing at 6’9” Magic was a very over sized point guard and regarded as Larry Bird’s rival. He won 5 NBA championships in the 80’s. He had to retire in 1991 due to his HIV. After some time then he returned in 1996 but retired the same year after losing to Houston in the playoffs.

5. Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry, son of Wardell Curry, absolutely changed how basketball is played today. Coming into the league he showed some sparkes of the fire. But then in the 2015-2016 season Steph became different. He became the league MVP depending on the 3 point shot. The warriors have made it to 6 finals and won 4 of them.

4. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Kareem was drafted in 1969 and won his first championship with the bucks in his second season. He went on to win 6 more NBA titles. He also won 6 MVPs and made the all defensive 1st team 11 times. But the reason he is so high in the list is because he had the scoring title up until last season when Lebron won it.

3. Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant was drafted straight out of highschool in 1996. He won his first championship in 2000 and went on to win 2 more and have the first 3 peat since the Chicago Bulls. Kobe won 2 more championships in his 20 year career and is regarded as one of the greatest.

2.Lebron James

Lebron James was born in Akron Ohio and raised by his single mother Gloria Marie James. He was the best NBA prospect of all time and  got drafted #1 overall in the 2003 NBA draft.  He has made it to 10 NBA finals and won only 4 of them. Like I said before, he has the scoring title scoring 40,000+ points in his NBA career and has won 4 MVPs.

1.Michael Jordan

Micheal Jordan the son of Dellorious and James Jordan was born February 17, 1963. Micheal Jordan’s dad was a baseball player and it seemed Mike was gonna have the same career. But one day when Micheal tried out for the high school basketball team he didn’t make the cut. Micheal Jordan took it personally and didn’t stop playing basketball and practicing. Day after day shot after shot he didn’t quit and when the opportunity came he took it. He became an amazing highschool player and got a scholarship to play basketball to the D1 college the North Carolina Tar Heels. After two amazing seasons with North Carolina Micheal was drafted at the number three pick in the 1984. Micheal went on to win 6 NBA championships, 1 Defensive Player of the year, and 5 NBA MVPs.

They have had 2 players move on and play in the Olympics. Charlene Johnsen after playing for BYU went to the Utah Predators out of college as the starting setter. She played 2 years of professional volleyball in Switzerland and Italy. She competed in the 2000 Olympics and after that served as the assistant coach in Nebraska. Mary Lake played for BYU as a libero, and she is set to go to the 2020 summer Olympics. Mary Lake was named the 2019-20 West Coast Conference female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was also named WCC Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-WCC First Team. She started every game and led the team to a No. 1 ranking. History Of LaVell Edwards Stadium

History Of LaVell Edwards Stadium

LaVell Edwards Stadium is the pinnacle of BYU athletics, and maybe even Provo. LaVell Edwards Stadium has gone through ups and downs, building changes, and even name changes.

1960’s

LaVell Edwards Stadium, formerly known as Cougar Stadium, was built/opened on October 2nd, 1964. The stadium was a massive upgrade from the small, 5,000 seat stadium with the same name, to a 28,000 seat stadium. Cougar stadium was soon upgraded to be able to hold 35,000 spectators, then soon changed up to 45,000 and was stuck at that number for many years. Including the football field, a track surrounding the field was later removed.

1970’s

In the stadium itself, not much happened to the seating amount, look, or name. The only main change was the Cougars’ team itself who only got better in the standings.

1980’s

In the ’80s, the changes to the stadium were much more impactful than any other decade, except for the upgrade to the new stadium. In 82’ The stadium went under MANY wanted, and big changes such as adding stands to the north and south end zones, lowering the field eight feet, and removing the track surrounding the field (home to the 1967 and 1975 NCAA Track and Field Championships). The stadium expansion increased the seating amount to over 65,000. The crowd of 64,253 that gathered for BYU’s first game in the expanded stadium on September 25, 1982, was reported at the time as “the largest gathering ever in Utah history.” Not to mention the cougar’s national championship win, and winning the first Holiday Bowl.

1990’s

The Cougars “Cougar Stadium” went through no changes, similar to the 70’s decade.

2000s-2020s

The stadium was renamed with the retirement of BYU LEGENDARY head football coach LaVell Edwards after the 2000 season. In 2003, BYU added a luxury “Club Seating” area to the east stands, taking the capacity of Edwards Stadium to 64,045. In 2010 and 2011 BYU created additional wheelchair access inside the stadium, which reduced the overall capacity to 63,725 in 2010 and 63,470 in 2011.

The Cougars Field

The field itself is one of the most iconic pieces of BYU history. The field held miracles, comebacks, fans rushing the field, and upsets. The field itself is well kept and is covered with a sand-based natural turf capable of draining eight inches of rain per hour. The well-kept grass field is consistently deemed one of the best in the country and constantly had a nice paint job. The field has gone through a few color and design changes but has stayed mostly static throughout its history.

Extra Additions

The Stadium has had many extra little additions such as the Cougar room and the Video Scoreboard

The Cougar Club Room, which is a common meeting place for Cougar Club members, is located in LaVell Edwards Stadium, near the northwest side of the stadium, The room is used for pre and post-game activities as well as for meetings and banquets during the year.

The video board has gone through 3 major changes, The introduction of the scoreboard, the revamp in 2012, and a new remodel in 2021 which is still being worked on. The two scoreboards are located along the north and south endzones, with thinner, and longer video boards along the east, north, and south sides.

The Press Box

The LaVell Edwards Stadium press box has been named the “Provo Marriott” by the media who cover BYU football. Rising over 10 stories high, the four-level press box is located on the west side of the stadium and runs the entire length of the stands. The little area is visible from inside, and outside the stadium.

In 1982, 1988, and 1997 the Football Writers Association of America cited BYU for its “outstanding press box working area.”

Levels one and two of the press box contain 42 private lodges, each one equipped with 12 padded chairs, a television, radio, telephone, refrigerator, sink, and game programs. The BYU President’s Box, which includes 163 padded chairs, five television sets, and a buffet area, is also located on the first floor.

Level three is reserved for the print and electronic media along with all the game operators. The statistics, public address, sound, and scoreboard controls are all located on the third level. Approximately 300 people work on the third level during games. Level four is primarily used for television game filming.

Other Events

Other than the BYU football games held there, LaVell Edwards Stadium is occasionally home to the “Stadium Of Fire” a fourth of July event.

BYU’s 6-2 Start, Season looking good

BYU’s 6-2 Start, Season looking good

BYU has had so much momentum walking into the first game of the 2021/2022 season. Coming off of an 11-1 season with the beloved Zach Wilson, the team knew they had to keep up the play, and sure enough, they put up a show.

First Few Games

BYU vs. ARIZONA

Walking into Agilent Stadium on Sep. 4, 2021, the crowds were energetic. BYU and Arizona faced off against each other in Allegiant Stadium, for the Las Vegas kickoff classic. On the tickets, the game was an Arizona home game, but according to the crowds, it looked more like a BYU home game. (And Arizona University is closer, by a whole hour!) The ratio of BYU fans to Arizona fans in the stands was most likely 7-1. 7/9 of the crowd was BYU, and that most likely helped them into this season opener.

The game started off slow, with 0 points being scored in the first quarter, and not much happening. But the game had only just begun, and some scoring started to commence. BYU out-scored a quick 14-3 second quarter, and all the momentum was on BYU going into the second half. The third quarter was an Arizona show, scoring 10 points to BYU’s 7, putting the scoreboard to 21-13. The fourth quarter was hectic, with the ball just going back and forth and not much scoring was actually happening. A field goal by Arizona and BYU sent Arizona home, empty-handed, and the final score 24-16, BYU.

Arizona’s Quarter-Back, Gunner Cruz, led both teams in passing yards, with 336 to Jaren Halls (BYU) 198. Tyler Allgeier led both teams in rushing, running in a solid 94 yards, and A touchdown.

BYU vs. UTAH

Ah yes, the BYU vs. Utah rivalry game. Every time these two teams face-off, it’s the game of the day. LaVell Edwards Stadium was ROCKING on 9/11, and so much respect was sent to the fallen soldiers of the worst day in Manhattan. The BYU cougars had not beaten Utah in 9 whole years, and it was time.

The game itself started off almost just as slow as the Arizona game with BYU posting a small, but good 3-0 lead on Utah out of the first quarter. Utah’s offense already had 2 turnovers in a matter of 3 possessions. The second quarter just gave BYU more and more momentum as it went on, and BYU posted a strong 13-7 outscore, and the score being 16-7 at halftime. The second half brought more momentum, and BYU, having only one touchdown, had the Utes down 23-7 ending the third quarter. The fourth quarter was the Utes game, and all that momentum that BYU had built up, was crushed. A quick 10 points from Utah put the game at 23- 17, with just a few minutes remaining. BYU marched down the field, nearly scoring a touchdown, but got held to a field goal. That kicker, Jake Oldroyd DRILLED right down the middle and held the lead to 9. Utah needed to take the ball all the way down the field, score, then score again after receiving an onsides kick. But BYU didn’t even give them a chance, and stopped the Utes on fourth down, securing the victory for BYU for the first time in 9 games.

BYU’s Jaren Hall barely led both teams in passing yards, posting in 149, just two ahead of Utah’s Charlie Brewer. The Utes Running back, Micha Bernard, rushed an amazing 146 yards, easily beating out Tyler Allgeier.

BYU vs. ARIZONA STATE

LaVell Edwards Stadium and the Cougars were hoping for a win and having two consecutive wins against Ap-Ranked teams for the first time in franchise history. It was just bound to happen.

The game started off quick with a startling fumble from Arizona State on the kickoff return, that BYU immediately scored off of it with a strong Tyler Allgeier. But the fame didn’t last long, and with a perfect throw to Andre Johnson, from Arizona State’s QB, Jayden Daniels for a 58-yard reception. Arizona State quickly followed with a rushing touchdown and tied the game up only 3:50 into the game. The rest of the first quarter was slow, and not much happened. The second quarter started, and Arizona State was just ramming their way down the field. But a great defended pass and big hit lead to a BYU interception. The game was already starting to look like the Utah game with 2 turnovers already on ASU. The cougars quickly get the ball back and march down, with a quick play from their own 14 to their own 45. Another great pass and a trick play double pitch lead to a BYU 34 yard Touchdown reception. After a 3-and-out on ASU’s possession, it led to a 40 yard Gunner Romney reception. Shortly after, BYU’s Jaren Hall throws a perfect 15-yard Touchdown reception by Isaac Rex with 4:40 left on the clock. The rest of the quarter was a cougars interception, but no luck on the next possession with Jaren Hall throwing an interception with 16 seconds left. The Cougars walked into the half up 21-7.

Starting the second half, a quick BYU 3-and-out led to an ASU touchdown only 5 minutes into the half, leaving the score at 21-14. Another BYU punt later, The Sun devils march their way down the field, making people miss, and scoring a solid field goal making the score now 21-17 BYU cougars still up. The cougars make their way down the field and throw an interception on the 25-yard line. But the hustle didn’t stop, and BYU’s Tyler Allgeier chased down the runner and popped the ball out and BYU recovered the ball on their own 13. Two turnovers in one play, and basically a loss of 70 for BYU. BYU with the ball back marched back down the field, but a sack on 3rd down led to a BYU punt inside the 3. ASU started their diver and got immediately stopped, causing a punt. BYU marches back down the field and brings it down to the 5, but Jaren Hall goes down, and Baylor Romney steps in. The ball snapped and Balor slips, recovers, and throws a dime to Tight End-Issac Rex for a BYU touchdown. This basically seals the game, and BYU wins 27-17.

ASU’s QB Jayden Daniels led both teams in yards, stacking in 265 to BYU’s Jaren Hall’s 214.

BYU Basketball, what’s gone on so far this Season

BYU Basketball, what’s gone on so far this Season

BYU basketball has had a pretty dang good start to their season so far.  Starting 5:1 is pretty dang good.  With the leading role that BYU’s point guard Alex Barcello has taken on.  They are shaping up to be a pretty good team this year.  They have won five games so far which is pretty good. They did lose by quite a bit though to USC, but USC has a very good basketball program.  They are doing pretty good this year for just losing a lot of their most vital players.

BYU basketball this year is shaping up to be a pretty good team.  They have their point guard Alex Barcello, who is not afraid to take charge of things when BYU needs it the most.  They also have a new player, Kaleb Lohner, who has been playing extremely well. He has just barely been playing in these last few games, he is playing extremely well. In his last game, he hit 3 out of his 4 threes he took.  He is just playing great for how inexperienced he is.  In Alex Barcellos’s last game too, he had 23 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.  Barcello has been able to step up and really make things happen when they need to.  In their last game against Utah State, there was a great pass to him which led BYU to go on a scoring run.  Alex Barcello and Kaleb Lohner are really two important players for BYU’s roster.

BYU basketball also lost quite a few very important players this year but are still playing great without them.  They lost one of their star players, Gavin Baxter, due to an injury he suffered in one of their first games.  They thought it might be just a small injury he could recover from, but it turned out to be a season-ending torn ACL.  This was not good for BYU basketball. Luckily they have had lots of players that have really picked up their games and done well.  BYU has not just lost Gavin Baxter though,  they lost a lot of their all-star players last year as seniors.  They lost Jake Toolson who got drafted into the NBA by the Utah Jazz.  They also lost a lot of other seniors that led a very important role for BYU basketball.  Even though BYU has lost a lot of people, they are still playing great and are on their way for a great season.

Zac Wilson going to the NFL and maybe a Bowl Game

Zac Wilson going to the NFL and maybe a Bowl Game

The BYU offense this year so far has been a force to be reckoned with. With Zac Wilson as their quarterback who is tearing up every defense they come up against and being looked at for the NFL and the Heisman. The BYU offense has just been as good as it gets in college football. With BYU’s insane quarterback Zac Wilson leading BYU’s offensive charge this year. BYU is a good team this year and a vital part of that is their quarterback Zac Wilson. With Zac Wilson having an unbelievable season so far the BYU offense has been pretty scary for a lot of team defenses. BYU’s offensive success is not only credited to Zac Wilson though. The offensive line has been insane and his receivers rarely drop a pass the whole season so far. BYU and has been playing great and a great influencer of that has been their quarterback Zac Wilson.

The whole BYU team is playing great this year. This means there is possibly going to be a big new year’s day bowl game for them. A good bowl game for BYU would be phenomenal for them. If they play a good team that would be one of the best games to watch for a little new year’s day football. The chance is slim for this but if BYU keeps moving up in the rankings like they are, maybe they make it to the top four. Which means they would have a chance at a national title. Although this is unlikely many people believe BYU is good enough for that to happen. A game like that would go down in BYU’s football history and that would be a very vital game for BYU’s football program. The chance of BYU getting a good New year’s day bowl game is pretty likely to happen and that will be a game all BYU football fans will need to watch.

BYU had a good year this year and a very important person leading this is Zac Wilson. With Zac Wilson playing as good as he has this season there is no question that he is being looked at by many different teams and people. Zac Wilson is planned to be a first-round draft prospect this year. Many different NFL teams are looking at him, a main big one though is the San Francisco Forty Niner’s. There is a very high likelihood of Zac Wilson getting picked up this year in the NFL draft. Which is good for him, but not so good for BYU football. Besides that though Zac Wilson is seriously getting looked at for being the Heisman Trophy winner. The likelihood of him getting it is low, but it is still a massive achievement to even be in the running for a reward like that. BYU football and Zac Wilson have played extremely well this year so far and are ready to keep on beating teams.
