7 crazy Florida man stories

We’ve all heard the crazy Florida man headlines. They are always crazy, weird, and unbelievable. So here are seven weird and crazy Florida man stories.

  1. A Florida man saved his dog from alligator grasps. The Florida Wildlife Federation and the fStop foundation placed cameras in residents’ backyards to capture the wildlife and because of this, it was all caught on camera. Richard Wilbanks recovered his 3-month-old puppy Gunner from the grasps of the alligator. “I never thought an alligator could be that fast. It was so quick,” Wilbanks told the network. Wilbanks is fine and his dog has recovered from his puncture wounds.

  1. A Florida man was hospitalized after an iguana ran into his bike. A man about 62 was riding his bike down the road when an iguana darted in front of him. The iguana became lodged in this front tire and front wheel fort. This caused the tire to lock, throwing the man over the handlebars. He landed on the asphalt and got some scrapes and bruises as well as stitches.

  1. A Florida man busted for trying to steal a full rack of ribs by stashing it in his pants. 26-year-old Maeli Alvarez-Aguilar was trying to sneak out of Rines Market in Indiantown. He was caught and then removed a full rack of ribs that he was hiding in his waistband. A further search of him uncovered two packs of hamburger buns, nine pieces of fried chicken, and some mashed potatoes.

  1. A Florida man tries to avoid arrest by wiggling out of cop’s grasps and cartwheeling away. 40-year-old Gianfranco Fernandez was taken down for blocking traffic by doing a flip in the middle of the road. Fernandez was able to wiggle out of the cop’s grasp and then proceeded to do cartwheels in an attempt to get away but he didn’t get very far. He was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

  1. A Florida man was arrested for trying to get an alligator drunk. 27-year-old Timothy Kepke was feeding an alligator beer. Kepke’s friend, 22-year-old Noah Osborne caught the alligator with his bare hands. Kepke fed the gator some beers and in the process got bit. They told the police they were going to release the alligator back to the wild after they fed it beer. They were both arrested for unlawfully taking an alligator.

  1. A Florida man protects his car from a hurricane by hiding it in his kitchen. Patrick Eldridge, of Jacksonville, was afraid his car might blow away in hurricane Dorian. “My husband was afraid his car might blow away and my car is in the garage,” Jessica, his wife said. Florida ended up dodging most of the storm and Patrick removed his car from his kitchen.

  1. A Florida man was injured after sticking his hand in a jaguar cage. This unidentified man had been taunting the cat before jumping over the barrier. He then proceeded to stick his hand in the jaguar’s cage. The jaguar clawed at the man’s arm leaving a mess for the zoo employees to clean up after they took him to the hospital. “This is an individual that wasn’t using his head… He stuck his hand in through the mesh that separates the jaguars from the outside,” deputy zoo director Dan Maloney told the outlet, before adding that the incident “would have been a very different story” if the animal had been able to secure a stronger grip on the man.

Reasons why homework sucks

Reasons why homework sucks

Nobody likes homework and believe it or not homework has many cons. Homework is harmful to health, takes away important time, causes lots of frustration, and takes away the desire to learn.

Harmful to health

To begin, homework is very harmful to health. Too much homework causes lots of stress, sometimes stress can be good but in this case, it’s harmful to us and our health. If you’re under stress a lot you will start to experience physical and emotional problems. Physical problems include headaches, upset stomach, high blood pressure, and chest pain. Emotional problems include anxiety, depression, and even panic attacks.

Homework is the main cause of stress. Getting homework done on time and not understanding it can cause lots of stress and affect students’ health in negative ways.

Another way homework affects health is it causes students to stay up late and not get enough sleep. Students will stay up late trying to get all their homework done and because of this, they don’t get the amount of sleep they need. Sleep is crucial to our health, sleep lets us recharge, keeps us healthy, and helps us stave off diseases. Without sleep your brain can’t function properly, you can’t concentrate, think clearly, or process information and memories. All the homework is hurting us mentally and physically.

Takes away time

Next, homework takes away very important time with family, friends, and time for yourself. Many students take lots of time trying to get homework done, if students had no homework or even less homework they would have lots more time to spend with family and friends. Family and friends are a big part of our lives and homework is taking lots of that time away.

In the article Homework or Personal Lives, it says, “They’re pressured by their parents to do their homework while simultaneously being encouraged to spend time with family, eat, spend time with friends, go outside, participate in sports or other extracurricular activities, and sleep for 7+ hours. Rather than motivating students to master the material and learn efficiently, homework negatively impacts students by taking away from personal time that is necessary for them to lead balanced lives.” This article shows the negative effects of homework and what it takes away from kids. If we didn’t have homework students would have a lot more time for themselves and that would benefit them a lot.

Frustration

In addition, homework causes lots of frustration. Students come home from a long day at school and then have to get all their homework done. Lots of the time students don’t understand their homework and this also causes lots of frustration. Frustration can also lead to other problems like loss of confidence, more stress, anger, aggressive behavior, irritability, and even depression. The more homework students have the more frustration and the more likely they are to have these problems.

Takes away the desire to learn

Last, homework takes away the desire to learn. Normally students don’t like homework and hate doing it and these feelings of hate are associated with learning so students want to avoid learning. For example, the article Fighting a Losing Battle: Too Much Homework Can Interfere with Learning by GoodTherapy states, “The overwhelming majority of homework assignments force children to sit down and memorize facts rather than experience their world.

Not only does this make information more difficult to learn; it can also decrease your child’s motivation to learn. When learning is made miserable, children associate the thing they’re learning with misery and want to avoid it. This is why tactics such as forced silent reading time or flashcards rarely help children learn math and vocabulary.” This shows how homework is doing the opposite of what it’s supposed to do, taking away the desire to learn.

In conclusion, homework has many consequences and shouldn’t exist. Homework is harmful to health and causes lots of stress, takes away valuable time with friends and family, causes lots of frustration, and above all takes away the desire to learn.

The Gabby Petito Case

The Gabby Petito Case

22-year-old Gabby Petito and her boyfriend Brian Laundrie went on a cross-country trip, Laundrie returned without her and police are still investigating.

AUGUST

In June 2021 Petito and Laundrie went on a cross-country road trip to visit the states and national parks in the western states. “She maintained regular contact with her family members during her travels; however, that communication abruptly stopped around the end of August,” North Port Todd Garrison police chief adds. On August 12 a police officer had an encounter with the couple. They were arguing and then were seen getting into a physical fight, but after the fight, the couple said they were “in love” and didn’t want anyone to be charged with a crime. The couple separated for the night and no charges were filed. A 911 call from that same day said they wanted to report a domestic violence dispute. As they were driving by, the caller said a man was hitting a girl. “The gentleman was slapping the girl. Then we stopped,” the caller added. “They ran up and down the sidewalk. He proceeded to hit her, hopped in the car and they drove off.” On August 17 Laundrie flew from Salt Lake to Tampa, Florida. “Flew home to obtain some items and empty and close the storage unit to save money as they contemplated extending the road trip,” Bertolino told CNN. On the 23 he flew back to rejoin Petito. On August 27 a Louisiana couple on vacation in Jackson, Wyoming reported seeing Petito and Laundrie involved in “commotion.” “Nina Angelo, who was at the restaurant with her boyfriend, said Petito was in tears and Laundrie was visibly angry, going in and out of the restaurant several times and showing anger toward the staff around the hostess stand.” The last week of August was the last time the Petito family was in touch with Gabby. On August 24, Petito FaceTimes with her mother and tells her she is leaving Utah and heading to the Teton range in Wyoming. “On August 25, there were multiple texts between Petito and her mother. The young woman’s family believes she is in the Tetons on this date. On August 27, there were more texts between Petito and her mother, during which her family believes she remains in the Tetons. On August 30, her family received their last text from Petito. They doubt she wrote that text. According to Stafford, the message read, “No service in Yosemite.” “ Also in the last week of August a woman claims she gave Laundrie a ride, but once he found out they were going to Jackson Hole and not Jackson he got irritated and got out near Jackson Dam. A few minutes later a Wyoming resident Norma Jean Jalovec picked Laundrie up and gave him a ride to Spread creek.

SEPTEMBER

On September 1st Laundrie returns to their North Port home, where the couple lives with Laundries parents. On September 6 the Laudrie family went to a campground 75 miles away from their home and stayed there from the 6 to the 7. On September 11 the Petito family, not being able to get in touch with Gabby, reported her missing. Authorities go to the Laundrie’s house asking to speak to him and his family. Taylor the police spokesperson says “we were essentially handed the information for their attorney, that is the extent of our conversation with them.” On September 16 the Petito family begs the Laudrie family to help them in their search for Gabby. “Please, if you or your family have any decency left, please, tell us where Gabby is located,” Stafford says. “Tell us if we are even looking in the right place. All we want is for Gabby to come home. Please help us make that happen.” The Laundrie family refuses to answer and give any information on where Gabby is. Finally, on the 17 the Laundries requested a private visit with the police. In this visit, the police learned that the Laundries hadn’t seen their son since September 14. On the 18 police are searching for Laundrie and on the 19 Gabby’s remains were found in Teyton Country. The next day Laundries’ parents are questioned at their home by the FBI. On September 23 there was a federal arrest warrant for Laundrie.

OCTOBER

On October 12 after investigation Petito’s cause of death was determined to be strangulation. On October 20 investigators found human remains and some personal items that belonged to Laundrie. “The items were found in an area that had been underwater until recently,” McPherson said. On the 21st FBI confirms that the remains belong to Brian Laundrie. The remains had been out there for a long time and when they were found were “skeletal remains” as well as some clothing Laundrie was believed to be wearing.
