The xbox series x is the next xbox console in the series, likely to be competing with the ps5, in a new generation of console wars. The xbox series x is going to be released in late 2020 and will be a console like no other (according to xbox). It will have backwards compatibility with the xbox one and xbox 360, which is something that people have been wanting for a long time. It was originally teased at E3 2019 as ¨xbox project scarlett¨, and was later announced at the game awards later that year as the ¨xbox series x¨.
When first originally announced at the game awards, they showed a reveal trailer that was surprising to many people, first off, the shape. This xbox is shaped like no other console, instead of a normal rectangle like pretty much all other gaming consoles have been shaped, it is shaped like a big tall square that has people confused, because the short rectangle shape was perfect for most. It was easy to put on an entertainment center, or on shelves, but the xbox series x is shaped more like a pc tower, and does not look like it could fit on an entertainment center shelf, or pretty much anywhere that people would put their old consoles. This thing has many people wondering if they did this to stand out, or if it has anything to do with the actual hardware in the xbox.
Regardless, it did not stop people from mercilessly making fun of it, people made all kinds of memes and comparisons about the xbox series x shape. Most people joke about how they are going to fit it into their TV stand, which seems impossible due to its shape, unless you turn it on its side, which based on the logo placement, it was not meant to be.
It has some competition though, the ps5 is coming to, and we don’t know what kind of power that it will bring. The specs of the xbox one x have already been announced, and people are wondering if playstation can outdo them again specs-wise, like they have been doing for the past ten or so years. But the ps5 didn’t get off the hook that easy, because people made fun of it as well for its boring and formulaic logo, with many memes again being made about how the logo looks, which is basically the exact same thing as the ps4 but with a 5 instead. Which sounds reasonable, but all the other logos in the playstation line of consoles have been slightly different and improved, which is why this one is so boring to most people.
The game lineup to the xbox series x is mostly unknown at the moment, with titles most likely going to be announced at E3 2020, but they do have one BIG game announced, that game being Halo: infinite. People (including myself) have been losing their minds over this game being announced, because the last game in the series (halo 5) was not well received by most people. So people are wondering about how they can mend this broken storyline back together to have a good campaign with a satisfying conclusion, Which at this point in time seems pretty hard to pull off, but people are still being optimistic about how it will turn out.
In conclusion, the Xbox series x, is a console that we do not know much about, but are intrigued to see how it will turn out. Many people have been counting on this console to single handedly save the sinking ship of the xbox franchise, which it looks like it has a high chance of doing.
