Top Surprises in the NFL through Week 7

We are six weeks into the NFL season and there have been a lot of things that no one saw coming. That’s what we’ll be looking at today, surprising things that have happened so far this NFL season. It could be teams that weren’t expected to be very good but are, teams that were expected to be good but aren’t, and everything in between.

The Tennessee Titans

What better place to start than Buffalo, New York, a place that most people don’t care about, but recently the Bills have been making some noise. So far they are 4-2, their first game was against a Pittsburgh Steelers team that hasn’t been very good this year, but they ended up losing 23-16. The Bills were expected to win that game, but the Steelers came through with the win. After that game the Bills went on a roll winning four in a row against the Miami Dolphins, Washington Football Team, Houston Texans, and Kansas City Chiefs, who have had a rocky start to the season at 3-4. Last week the Bills played the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football in a narrow 34-31 loss improving the Titans to 4-2, and after another good game from the Titans beating the Chiefs and improving to 5-2.

The Kansas City Chiefs

A team that you can’t tell much about is the Kansas City Chiefs because this year they haven’t been very consistent at 3-3. They’re tied for last place in the AFC West with the Denver Broncos. In week 1 they narrowly defeated a good Cleveland Browns team that has been battling with a lot of injuries, 33-29. After that, they lost by one to an extremely good Baltimore Ravens team by 1 point and then to the Los Angeles Chargers by 6 points. They then beat the Eagles and of course lost to the Bills, and beat the Washington Football Team, and lost to the Titans, going to 3-4. The Chiefs lost to four good teams, beat one, and then won against two of the worst teams this year. After this week’s loss against the Titans, the Chiefs become 3-4, tied for last place in their conference with the Broncos.

The Cleveland Browns

The Seattle Seahawks suffered from a devastating injury to their star quarterback Russel Wilson. A team that is usually very good and a playoff contender looks out of running this year especially with a 2-4 start to the season with their only wins against the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers, both teams under .500. The Cleveland Browns have had a rocky start to the season at 3-3. They have suffered from injuries to all their best players, Jarvis Landry, one of their receivers, Odell Beckham Jr. who’s one of the best receivers in the league, and their quarterback Baker Mayfield, but Baker and OBJ are both playing through their injuries. Their running back, one of the best in the NFL, Nick Chubb is out with a calf injury, and their backup running back Kareem Hunt is also injured preventing the Browns from consistently being able to win. Their wins are against the Texans, who are under .500, the Bears who are also barely under .500, and the Vikings who are at .500. They also added a win against the Denver Broncos this week without their starting quarterback Baker Mayfield, Starting running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, and their star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

The Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are still the best team in the NFL so far this season, as the only remaining undefeated team and doing well so far after a 31-5 victory over the Texans. They have been very impressive this season defeating the Titans, Vikings, Jaguars, Rams, 49ers, Browns, and of course the Texans. Three of those 7 teams are pretty good this year, the Titans, Rams, and Browns, and they defeated all three of them. Their closest game wasn’t against any of those, their closest game was against the Vikings in a narrow 1 point victory 34-33. Their next game is against the Green Bay Packers who are very good this year, so it should be a very interesting and action-packed game.
