The movie Sound of Freedom came out July 4th 2023. This movie has been ready to produce for five years before they could get it out. It is a very controversial movie for people. This movie is about the child trafficking industry and the way it can work in certain parts of the world. There is a little girl named Rocio and her little brother. Rocio is an amazing singer. She was singing at a talent show in her community in Mexico when a so-called “ producer” heard her singing. The next day this lady shows up at her house offering to be a model for her. Rocio brings her dad in and he says yes to the idea and the lady sees Rocio’s brother and invites him to. It then jumps to America where an investigator named Tim Ballard is breaking into a predator’s house to arrest him. They get the man and put him into custody. This investigator is in his car with his partner investigator and his partner says “I don’t think I can do this job anymore.” They talk about how they’ve caught so many predators this year.
His partner says “But how many kids have we saved?” To that he replies “We catch predators, that’s our job.” Later that night Tim is re-watching a video of a little girl getting trafficked to write a report about it when all of a sudden he gets emotional and jumps out of his seat. He is storming down the hall to the predator’s cell. He says that everyone went home and it was just them two. Then he tells the man to go on a walk with him. While they are outside he pretends to be one of them to get information and let the guy go home the next day. Tim and this predator meet at a restaurant and the predator gives him a book he wrote with a picture of a little boy. This is Rocio’s brother and he says “He’s gonna be yours for the weekend.” That is when he hears cop sounds and the predator gets fully arrested.
The next part is back in Mexico they get to the auditions with tons of other kids. This lady is taking their pictures and making them look nice adding makeup and fixing clothes in a very mature way. The auditions end at 7:00 pm. Rocio’s father is there to pick them up when there is no answer at the door. The door comes open and they are gone. The father is panicking, searching everywhere, but they are nowhere to be found. All of the kids have been taken into a van they drive off. They get put in a giant metal crate that goes on a boat. Rocio is yelling and her brother is terrified. Then that next morning the crate opens. There is an American man standing outside of it. Another man speaking in Spanish tells these kids to get in a line. The man looks through the kids and picks Rocio’s brother. Rocio is screaming saying not to take him and then the man working for the operation punches her.
He is gone. Then this American man is trying to take her brother to America and trying to then cross the border. Tim is at the front of the check in place looking for this man. They take him out of the car and Tim goes to grab Rocio’s brother. He comforts him and says I am just here to help things like that. “What is your name?” Tim asked. “Teddy Bear” the boy says.”No your real name.” “Miguel,” the boy states. They take Miguel to the doctors and they say he has a history of sexual abuse.
Tim walks over to the boy, plays with a red mustang and takes him to get food. While he’s there they talk about what happened and Miguel asks him to find his sister. They reunite him with his father and his father asks the same thing.
Tim asks to take the case but it’s not in their work budget and it’s not what they do. Eventually they let him so he heads to Columbia where they think she is. He meets another agent and they team up with a man who buys children to set them free. They search and search then make a plan. They will act like buyers and make a hotel for other buyers to come and bring children. The audition lady is in on it too. They bring 54 kids to the island. Only half are there though. The agents are waiting for the other boost to come so they can jump in and arrest these people. The other boat comes and they arrest the buyers and the girl is not there. Eventually they then find where the girl is and Tim goes and saves her from this camp.
With this movie it’s been a roller-coaster of emotions for everyone. Producers and movie theaters do not want this movie out. It highlights how people in government and these famous people are part of this problem. It was shining a light on a problem everyone talks about but won’t solve. They didn’t want the last part after the credits out at all. The actor Jim Caviezel has a message saying how this movie is to recognize this problem and who is causing these problems. This movie is very informational and leaves you really thinking and wanting change to happen.
