Since Halloween is almost here you might be thinking about good movies to watch. Maybe you want to binge them on Halloween night or maybe you just want to watch them with your friends or family. In this article I’m gonna tell you about newer Horror movies, Older Horror Movies, Some on Netflix, and just straight out scary movies. 

 

Classic Horror Movies 

Maybe you’re the person who is in love with the classics. Honestly you can never go wrong with them. I’m gonna tell you a list of classic Horror movies that everyone who loves scary will enjoy! 

 

Halloween (1978)

The original ¨Halloween¨ was released on October 27 1978 and is rated R. It is 1 hour and 31 minutes long and the genre is Horror, Thriller. The 0-10 star rating on IMBD.com is a 7.8 out of 10.

Short Summary: On Halloween night in 1963 Michael Myers Murdered his 17 year old sister at 6 years old. He was sentenced for 15 years. On October 30 of 1978 he escaped and went back to his hometown Haddonfield(Illinios) and looks for his next victim to kill!

 

Child’s Play (1988)

“Child’s Play” was released on November 9 1988. It is rated R and is an hour and 27 minutes long. The genre is Fantasy, Thriller, Horror. The 0-10 star rating on IMBD.com is a 6.6  out of 10.

Short Summary: A serial killer uses black magic to put his soul inside a doll that a single mother ends up giving her son Andy. After the doll kills his babysitter Andy tries to tell people that the dolls alive but no one believes him.  

The Shining (1980)

¨The Shining¨ was released on June 13 1980. It’s rated R and is 2 hours and 26 minutes long. The genre is Drama, Horror and the 0-10 star rating on IMBD.com is 8.4 out of 10.

Short Summary: Jack Torrance becomes a caretaker at an isolated hotel in Colorado. His wife Wendy and his son Danny also go with him. His son Danny is plagued by psychic premonitions. Jack soon discovers the dark past of the hotel and begins to come to a homicidal maniac who tortures his family.  

 

2000’s Horror movies

Maybe you’re not a fan of the older Movies. You might not get scared easily so you want more of a scare. These newer Horror movies that I’m gonna list are gonna give you a scare and who knows maybe even nightmares. 

 

Saw (2004)

The original ¨Saw¨ was released on October 29 of 2004. It is 1 hour and 43 minutes long and is rated R. The genre is Horror, Mystery and the 0-10 star rating on IMBD.com is a 7.6 out of 10.

Short Summary:  Two men that are complete strangers  get trapped and chained to the end of a bathroom wall. They soon realize that they are pawns to a serial killers (Jigsaw) game. They have to complete puzzles to survive. Meanwhile one of the men’s wife and daughter have to watch him get tortured on a video.

 

Session 9 (2001)

¨Session 9¨ was released on September 14 of 2001 and is rated R. It is 1 hour and 37 minutes long and it’s genre is Horror, Mystery. The 0-10 star rating on IMBD.com is a 6.4 out of 10.

Short Summary: Asbestos removal workers start to work in an abandoned asylum hospital. The workers soon find out about the past of the hospital and it seems that the past is coming back.

 

Lights Out (2016)

¨Lights out¨ was released on July 22 of 2016. It’s rated PG-13 and is 1 hour and 21 minutes long. The genre is Drama, Horror, Mystery and the 0-10 star rating on IMBD.com is a 6.3 out of 10.

Short Summary: Rebecca and her brother both faced the same events when the lights turned off. They soon realise that the thing they see in the dark is attached to their mother. When their mother was a kid she became friends with a young girl from an asylum who died. Who knows that might be their problem? 

 

1922 (2017)

¨1922¨ was released on October 20 2017. It is rated TV-MA and is 1 hour and 42 minutes long. The genre is Crime, Horror, Drama and the 0-10 star rating on IMBD.com is a 6.3 out of 10.

Short Summary: A farmer conspires to murder his wife for money. He then tries to convince his teenage son to help.

Here are some Horror Movies that are on Netflix cause come on most people have Netflix and love to binge watch shows on there.

 

The Ring (2002)

“The Ring” was released on October 18 of 2002. It is rated PG-13 and is 1 hour and 55 minutes long. The genre is Horror, Mystery and the 0-10 star rating on IMBD.com is a 7.1 out of 10.

Short Summary: If you watch a video you get a phone call from some sort of creature counting down from 7 days until your death. Racheal Keller is a news reporter that doesn’t believe in this until four teenagers die after all watching the tape. She then watches the tape herself and now only has 7 days to live.

 

The Conjuring (2013)

“The Conjuring” was released on July 19 of 2013. It’s rated R and is 1 hour and 52 minutes long. The genre is Horror, Mystery, Thriller and the 0-10 star rating on IMBD.com is a 7.5 out of 10.

Short Summary: In 1970 paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren are called to go to the house of Carolyn and Roger Perron. The Perrons and their 5 daughters moved to an old farmhouse and soon discovered the terrifying past of the house. Paranormal stuff starts to occur in the house and does affect the family. Based on a true story

 

Eli (2019)

“Eli” was released on October 18 of 2019 and is rated R. The movie is 1 hour and 38 minutes and the genre is Drama, Horror, Mystery. The 0-10 star rating on IMBD.com is 5.7 out of 10.

Short Summary: A young boy gets trapped in his house that is not as safe as he thought it would be while being treated for a rare disease.

After a long day at school or work, you just want to go home and relax. When you turn on the TV there is nothing on it. When you get to Netflix you can’t decide. Well, I can help you with that. Here are some of my favorite Moves/shows to watch. Also, these shows/movies are not in a specific order.

1.All the Bright Places

This is a great movie to watch that just came out in March of 2020. This movie is about two teenagers who are having ahard time in life. Violet who can’t wait to graduate and get out of her hometown, due to her sister’s recent death. Theodore who just loves to think of new ways on how to kill himself. Eventually, Violet and Theodore meet and realize that life is not about the big moments, it’s about the little places and the little moments.

2. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. Lara Jean has only loved 5 boys before so when she has a crush like that so strong she writes a letter to them. Somehow these letters get out and when her sister’s boyfriend, Josh, gets her letter it all goes downhill from there. When Peter Kavinsky gets her letter he just got broken up with. Peter wanted to get back at his Ex and Lara Jean didn’t want her real crush Josh to find out that she had a big crush on him. So Peter asks Lara Jean to be his fake girlfriend. Lara Jean says yes. It’s all going well until it isn’t.

3. To all The Boys I’ve Loved Before P.S I Still Love You

This movie is a runoff of To all The boys I’ve Loved Before. This is about how Lara Jean and Peter get together. Their relationship is perfect until another boy comes into the picture. Lara Jean has had a crush on John Ambrose Maclean for the longest time. He finally wrote back to Lara Jean after the whole love letter. Lara Jean thinks it’s over until Lara Jean finds out that she has to work with John Ambrose Maclean. She is excited until it comes between Peter and John Ambrose Maclean. Soon Peter and Lara Jean Break up due to the little crush she has on John Ambrose Maclean.

4. The Office

This is one of the best comedies on Netflix. This series is about how a place called Dunder Mifflin works when your boss only likes to have fun. Micheal Scott did not have a very fun childhood. So when he goes to work he tries to make it as fun as possible. Most of his coworkers are not a fan of his goofing off. Dwight sucks up to Micheal. Pam and Jim end up falling in love and getting married. Soon in the show, Andy comes in and just loves Micheal. However, Andy drives Micheal insane and Micheal can’t stand Andy.

5. Parks and Recreation

This is another good comedy on Netflix. This series is about how Leslie Knope loves her job for the government. She devoted her life to the parks department. When Ann Perkins Boyfriend, Andy, falls into the abandoned house pit behind Ann’s house he breaks both of his legs. She immediately brings it up with the parks department. Soon Leslie and Ann become best Friends.

So next time you have time and decide to sit and watch Netflix hopefully you decide to try and watch some of these and like them just as much as I like them. I liked these shows/ movies. So hopefully this is helpful to you.
