Justin Fields is the most underapreciated quarterback in the NFL

To give you some background on Justin Fields, he went to high school at Harrison High, then was committed to Georgia, but he didn’t like it there because he didn’t get any playing time so he then transferred to Ohio State where he led the Buckeyes to a 20-2 overall record and back to back playoff appearances, this was the first time in school history. In May of this year, he was drafted in the first round at the 11th overall pick to the Chicago Bears.

This last Monday night game was a disaster. The refs sucked, there was a flag on what seemed like every play and yet there were countless missed calls, one of the few things that didn’t suck in the game was Justin Fields in the second half. He had a total of 300 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. So not too bad. He looked very promising, if I’m the Bears then I’m excited about my rookie QB’s future. Fields were Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded QB in Week 9 with a 90.5 grade. He received an 88.5 passing grade and a 71.2 rushing grade. So far this season he has some nice highlights, like his touchdown run against the 49ers. When you have a quarterback who can make the right reads, who can throw the ball 70 yards accurately, can outrun defensive backs with ease, who’s as agile as a wide receiver, and who’s a rookie approaching his 8th start, it’s pretty much a cheat code. Assuming that Fields stays healthy and keeps improving as fast as he is, he is going to have a very good career.

Justin Fields

Next week the Bears will host Baltimore. I’m excited to watch that game, two of my favorite quarterbacks, two of my favorite teams. I think that Justin Fields and his Bears have a pretty good shot at winning against the ravens. The Ravens just haven’t been looking like themselves lately and the bears are coming off of the last-minute loss to the Steelers, they want to win and they’re gonna play like it. Every week Fields has looked better than the week before and I don’t think that’s going to change. The 6-3 Ravens are coming off an embarrassing loss to the now 3-7 Dolphins. And the week seven game when they lost 41-17 to the Bengals who last week got blown out 41-16 by the Browns. The Ravens are not looking good so far, and at this rate, I think the Bears are going to win. As long as there are better refs than last week’s Monday night game between the Bears and Steelers.

I think Justin Fields is underrated and needs to be given more respect, by NFL fans, Critics, and especially by the refs. On Monday there were several plays where if it were Tom Brady in Field’s place, the refs would have immediately thrown flags and given him more respect, but because Fields is a rookie they wave off way too many flags, if I could add a few more a’s to the word “way” right there I would. I think football is a game of respect between every person on the field. Including the players, refs, and staff members. If those three groups can give each other the respect they have earned the NFL would be a lot less of a “No Fun League.” Fields have looked very good and has only been improving from week one. I think with his attitude towards the game and his work ethic he will be one of the top QB’s by next season.
