Should Utah Host the Olympics Again?

Imagine that you are at the figure skating championships and roaring fans are screaming everywhere. Should Utah host the Olympics again? Utah hosted the olympics in 2002, and they’re bidding to host it again in 2030. Utah should host because they have good weather, it will become a better place of unity through fair competition, Utah could possibly make a profit out of it, and they are in the top three spots to host.

To begin, Utah should host the olympics because the weather is perfect for winter sports. For example, in the article “ Life Utah Elevated ,“ the University of Utah atmospheric scientist Jim Steenburgh said, “the combination of climate conditions that brew over the Wasatch Mountain resorts in Salt Lake City’s Cottonwood Canyons is the reason why many believe Utah snow is the best for deep-powder skiing and riding.” That tells us that it could help the olympians with skiing, snowboarding, and bobsledding. To conclude, Utah should host again because the weather in Utah is great for the Winter Olympics.

Secondly, Utah should host the Winter Olympics because it would make Utah a better place. For example, in the 2016 Scholastic Scope article, “Olympic Glory Should Be Ours!”, mentions that if we host then we would have to make improvements to meet the olympics standards. Also, they would have to make Salt Lake appealing to tourists so they would repair roads and sewer systems. Bringing everyone together and uniting our talented abilities will give us a chance to experience the pride of hosting a wonderful sporting event. All in all, to host the Olympics in Utah would make it a better place.

Lastly, Utah should host the Olympics because they could probably make a good profit. The 2016 scholastic scope article, “Olympic Glory Should Be Ours” states, “More visitors means more money for our local businesses.” Also, Olympic advertisement will be broadcast all over the world, and once people see on TV how amazing Salt Lake City will be they are more likely to want to come and visit. Even though it’s expensive to host, tourist will book hotel rooms, shop in ours stores, and even eat in our restaurants which would help make a lot of money. To sum it up, Utah should host the olympics because they can make a good profit.

Another Reason for Utah hosting the Olympics in 2030 is it has made it to the top three spots in the bidding. Along with Barcelona and Sapporo, Slat Lake City is in the running to host the 2030 oylmpics. Chief executive officer Sarah Hirshland, in a conference call following the executive board meeting, said the decision to identify Salt Lake as the candidate city would give any bid the best chance of success. “It’s worth noting there is no 2030 bid process open with the IOC at this stage but work we will do is to continue to refine the possibility, refine the plan for a possible bid but at this point there is no determination, nor is there an active process for bidding that will take place,” she said. That concludes that Utah is close to winning the 2030 olypic spot to host.

In conclusion, Utah should host the  2030 olympics because they have good weather, it will become a better place, Utah could possibly make a profit out of it, and it made it to the top three spots. It might not be a long time before you are watching a skier fly two feet away from you.
