The Worst NBA Teams Of All Time

NBA basketball is one of the most popular sports right now, but some teams in the NBA can be the most popular team, but there can be the most unpopular team out there.

First up are the 1988-1989 Miami heat. When you lose your first game to the Clippers at home, you know you’re gonna have a bad season. This team started out the season with 17 straight losses. Their season record was 15-67. Their leading scorer was Kevin Edwards only averaging 13.8 points per game. But then the heat would later draft Rony Seikaly, Glen Rice, and Sherman Douglas, and make the playoffs four years into their existence.

The second team is the 1995-1996 Vancouver Grizzlies. This team had high hopes of winning their first 2 games. But then they would lose 19 straight games. Later on, they lost 23 straight games. It got so bad that the 1999 lottery pick Steve Francis refused to play for them. Their record at the end of the season was 15-67.

The third team here is the 2004-2005 Atlanta Hawks. It’s very weird to think that this team with a record of 13-69 had Josh Smith, Antoine Walker, and an underrated 42-year-old Kevin Willis. This team had a lot of veterans on the team so that’s probably a reason why this team did so badly.

The fourth team on here is the 1986-1987 Los Angeles Clippers with a record of 12-70. NBA legend Elgin Baylor was named the team’s general manager before the draft and he was rewarded with zero first-round picks. But the team he inherited shouldn’t have been so bad, with players such as Mike Woodson, Michael Cage, Benoit Benjamen, and Larry Drew on the roster. They had a good start winning their three out of six first games. Then they won 4 games in a row after that. But then things dropped at that point.

The fifth team on here are the 2009-2010 New Jersey Nets. It’s surprising that Devin Harris and Brook Lopez were on a team with a 12-70 record. This team was the only team to start the season 0-18. They would also go 3-40 and 4-48 in the season.

The sixth team on here are the 1982-1983 Houston Rockets with a record of 14-68. This team had an old Calvin Murphy and older Elvin Hayes. This team had just gotten rid of Moses Malone, then getting Cadwell Jones in free agency. Kobe Bryant’s dad, Joe”JellyBean” Bryant also played for this team.

The seventh team on here are the 1992-1993 Dallas Mavericks with a record of 11-71. This team’s star player Roy Tarpley was banned from the NBA for repeated substance abuse violations. They did acquire NBA star Fat Lever and a couple of first-round picks, but Fat Lever was out the whole season due to a knee injury. They had traded one of their stars Rolando Blackman to New York for a first-round pick(Jim Jackson), but Jackson only played 28 games. They only won 4 of their first 61 games.

The eighth team on here is the 1997-1998 Denver Nuggets with a record of 11-71. This team had Antonio McDyess but soon had traded him. They had a losing streak of 23 games in the season.

The ninth team here is the 1972-1973 Philadelphia 76ers. This team had fired legendary coach Jack Ramsey and replaced him with Roy Rubin. Then they signed NBA star Billy Cunningham. The Sixers started the season with a record of 4-47 and their coach Roy Rubin was fired, then replaced by Kevin Loughery. The star player on this team was Fred Carter, who had said many times that he wishes that no team ties or beats this record.

The final team on the worst team list is the 2011-2012 Charlotte Bobcats with a record of 7- 59. With Michael Jordan being the owner of this team things went downhill from there. Jordan had signed off trades of Tyson Chandler and Gerald Wallace. With Cory Maggette and D.J. Augustin being injured, that left rookie Kemba Walker and rookie Bismack Biyombo with major roles. The Bobcats would nearly be outscored by 14 points per game.
