As many of you know, BYU basketball has just lost their three leading scorers, so they have had to rebuild their team. BYU has a whole new game plan compared to last year when they had the best three point percentage, in this coming season BYU will have a lot of big strong players. From what Mark Pope (BYU head coach) has said BYU has a solid non conference schedule. BYU tv posted a live BYU basketball practice to give BYU fans a taste of what they are going to be seeing this 2020-2021 season. The BYU basketball season is going to be packed with surprises.
Last season BYU did not have that great of a defense but they could hold their own on offense, this season we might just see the opposite. Last BYU’s three point skills were unbelievable, this year i’m guessing BYU will have one of the best field goal percentages in the nation. Having new players like Matt Haarms, Richard Harward and Gavin Baxter BYU is going to be hard to stop in that post position. Some of the big strong players are Gideon George, Richard Harward and Caleb Lohner. BYU is totally going to have a different game plan this 2020-2021 season.
The 2020 preseason has been a pain know one even knew if BYU was going to play and now we have somewhat of a schedule put together, man it feels good. In the WCC conference schedule BYU plays Pepperdine to start the season and Gonzaga to finish it off. The full non conference schedule is not out yet, although BYU has put teams like USC in the legends classic. In the BYU basketball season the team will start playing only a few weeks after they normally would.Compared to last year putting a schedule together was a pain credit to mark pope and athletic director Tom Holmoe.
In the practice it caught many BYU fans by surprise. BYU was hitting three after three after three which was surprising because a lot of people thought that BYU was going to be one of the best field goal percentage teams but then they showed that they could do both. One player that really showed their greatness was Jesse Wade, It felt like every shot he took went in. overall BYU has a really solid team and might have a chance of going to march madness at the end of the season.
In the past season BYU has shone how good they are even though they have lost some key players many people think BYU can keep it up. With all of BYU’s new players, many think that BYU will have a whole new game plan. Making a schedule in this pandemic is tough so full credit to Tom Holmoe and Mark Pope. Also, in the televised practice BYU showed that they could do it all. Lastly, in this pre season everyone involved with BYU has worked so hard whether it’s the players or the coaches, BYU deserves every single bit of credit they have been getting.
