Is Hazbin Hotel Suitable for kids?

Note: All of this is suggested. I don’t if you watch it or not (lol).

Hazbin Hotel had its first debut on YouTube during the year 2019. With season 1 just finishing and everyone giving it a thumbs up, I thought it would be a good idea to write about it. If you’re a wondering parent after your kid showed you an animated series on prime video, this is your answer.

What is Hazbin Hotel?

Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated series including mature themes such that even though it looks childish animated, it includes profanity, sexual humor, violence, gore, drug use, and topics of death and sin, giving it the very tasty rating of TV-MA. People say that it’s good that it’s rated MA because of the dark storyline and not family friendly content.

The Story

The show follows the princess of hell as she opens a hotel to rehabilitate the sinners of hell in order to get them to heaven. It seems like a good premise but yet again, still not suitable for children.

Hazbin Hotel gets a lot of heat but it is loved by adults, and sometimes teenagers, like me. Parents need to keep this show far, far away from young children because it’s not intended for them: it’s directed towards adults.

The show was in development for about 4 years until we got the first season. The twisted little mind behind the whole thing is a woman named Vivienne Medrano, who also made a sister show to the Hazbin Hotel called “Helluva Boss”. After the pilot was released in 2019 A24 announced the release of a full show on Amazon Prime Video. The show already had a massive fanbase of people even before season 1 dropped. But now with a full blown season, there are many more people viewing it for the first time.

The Rating

Hazbin hotel received its MA rating even though it has an animated style that seems cartoony, but that’s not to say that cartoons can’t be for adults. The Hulu hit Rick and Morty was animated and still given an adult rating. That is also the same situation with Family Guy and American Dad. Hazbin hotel was given its MA rating partially due to its profanity. THERE IS SO MUCH PROFANITY. There are also mature topics and sex jokes throughout the entire series.

The show itself is seen as pretty dark as the princes of hell, Charlie Morningstar, opens up a hotel to rehabilitate the sinners and get them to heaven due to the overpopulation of hell. Even though the show is about redemption, The topics of sin and death make the show seem pretty dark to people who aren’t used to things like this.

My Thoughts

Parents shouldn’t let their children view this show. On the surface the cartoony look and animation style seems childish but it should be kept away from kids.

On the other side of the flip flop, the adults however (and maybe teens) would love this show. The show has great jokes and music, with really loveable characters. My favorites being Nifty, Angel, And–most of all–Sir. Pentious. The show has some awesome character development and lore behind it for the people who like to look into the story. Hazbin Hotel is quickly becoming the most beloved show on the entire platform. And with season 2 coming out, I’m sure there is gonna be some bombshells of story. and more character development whether good or bad.

So to wrap this up in a pretty bow, The animated series Made by Vivienne Medrano, is not for kids, it is directed to adults and adults only.
