The coronavirus

The coronavirus is spreading to the United States of America, the coronavirus is a worldwide public health emergency.

What can you buy to prepare…

A CNN article states, ¨Now, health officials say, is the time for people in the United States prepare.¨ Stocking up on necessities should be a priority. You and each member of your family should have at least a 2 week supply of food, water, and toilet paper. Water may become infected in some states or countries in that case you should stock up on safe water while you can get it. However, our water in Utah is very unlikely to get infected because we have a closed water system. Having an emergency kit should also be something you should include in your storage. Always prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Some good foods to include in your food storage include peanut butter, peanut butter can last a long time and is a great source of energy. Any dehydrated food or powder would also be great food in storage because when adding water it can turn back into its original form. Protein bars are also a great food to store, some kinds can last for long periods of time and are also a great source of energy. Any canned food would also be good, some canned foods can last for 6 or more years.

Schools closing…

If your kid is showing sick symptoms, have them stay home! Although the coronavirus symptoms may not show up till 14 days after, as soon as you or someone else shows any symptoms, have them stay home.

Observe surrounding schools and if they are closing or not. If they are you might want to play it safe and have your kid stay home.

How is the coronavirus spread…

The coronavirus can spread in many ways, say health officials. Coughing and sneezing onto one another is the most common way to spread the virus. Touching an infected person is also a common way to catch the virus. Staying within a 6-foot radius of a sick person or animal will help you not get the virus. Live Science explains how touching a recently infected surface may cause you to catch the coronavirus.

How can you prevent the coronavirus…

Avoid traveling to highly infected areas, such as China, Italy, Iran, Japan, and South Korea. These countries have the most infected population with a total of 110,646 cases.

Also steer clear of touching your mouth, eyes, and face in general. Always wash your hands after going to the bathroom, blowing your nose, going to a public place, and especially wash your hands before you eat.

Hand sanitizer DOESN’T work. Hand sanitizer only kills germs, the coronavirus is a VIRUS, not a germ; hand sanitizer will not kill the coronavirus. Washing your hands is the most effective way to kill the coronavirus.

You will know you have it when…

You can be infected for up to 14 days before you realize you have caught the virus. Some symptoms are a high fever, a cough, difficulty breathing and shortness of breath. Light cases of the coronavirus may resemble the flu or a bad cold. If you think you have the coronavirus consider calling the emergency room or urgent care before you just show up. That way they have time to prepare for if you have the coronavirus or not.

How the coronavirus is affecting the economy…

The coronavirus has already affected the economy a bit, the airports in the United States of America will no longer fly to China and the airline delta is considering cutting off all flying to Italy. Anyone that works for or at the airport is going to be affected, their paychecks or bonuses are going to go down majorly. Think about all of the people that will have to stay home from work, if they get quarantined. They would lose those paychecks, some families rely on those paychecks to keep their family living. Stocks have also been going down since the coronavirus has entered the United States of America.
