All About Dogs!

All About Dogs!

Have you ever wondered why people love dogs so much? Well, I might have an explanation for you. Here are 10 “amazing facts about dogs”.

Dogs smell

Dogs’ noses are amazing; they can smell so many things. Dogs’ noses are 40 times stronger than ours(humans). Dogs can sniff out way more things than humans such as drugs, people, and even money. Some dogs were trained to sniff out covid-19 because their noses were so amazing. Dogs can sniff at the same time breathing without having to take a break. They rely on their nose for so many things like to find food, potential dangers, and to find people. So it’s nice that they can sniff without having to take a break and being able to breathe.

Dog breeds

Lots of dogs are great swimmers but not all breeds were bred for swimming. Different dog breeds are bred for different things like hounds are bred for their keen sense of smell. Wall poodles like swimming. Their name poodle came from the German word spritzen which means to splash. In 1889 a german man bred 2 dogs to make a german shepherd “the perfect war dog”. Another breed is an Australian shepherd. Witch is bred for herding animals such as cows, and sheep.

Items to have if you get/ have a dog

Some items you should have if you get a dog are food and water bowls. A leash, collar, and dog tag with your phone number if your dog decides to go for a run. A crate that you can put a bed in for if you go on trips. Food which can be canned or dry (i suggest dry). Doggy shampoo and conditioner and maybe a doggy brush. And a doggy bed. for an inside dog, you should get dog pads for training. but for inside dogs that use the potty outside, there are bells that you can hang on your door and teach them to ring it when they have to use the potty. Of course, you can’t forget the treats to reward them when your dog is being a good boy/ girl.

What to do with a new puppy

When you first get a new puppy you must make him or her feel safe. For bedtime, have your new buddy sleep in a crate near your bed put a dog bed that fits, and put a blanket inside so it’s comfortable, and drape another blanket on top so it’s dark. Also, make sure you know who the primary caretaker of the dog is. You coils have one person be one month and then switch, or even a week at a time. Make sure you come up with some rules like are they allowed on the bed, can they run around in the house, what rooms can they not go in, what room can they not go in, and other rules like that.

How fast can dogs run

Dogs can run fast if you run a race between you and your dog would easily beat you. A dog is made to run and chase. The fastest dog by far is a greyhound. A greyhound can run up to 45 mph. The second fastest dog is a german shepherd, which can run up to 30 mph. The average dog can run from 15-20 mph for a short amount of time. But not all dogs can run that fast; some dogs are a lot slower. How fast a dog can run depends on its physical composure and its health and bread.

Dogs ears

Did you know that dogs have 18 muscles controlling their ears? These muscles help move their ears, even just slightly. Dogs’ ears can tell us about their feelings. My dog likes to “guard things” where she likes to protect things and we know when she’s doing this by first, her ears twitch slightly. And second by her trying to bite us.

Why Dogs are Better Than Cats?

Dogs do not need litter boxes!

One reason why dogs are great pets is the litter box that cats have. In fact, even cat lover don’t love the litter box that the cats need. No matter how much you try to keep up with them, there seems to always be a lingering, stinky odor.

Plus, litter often tracks all over the house. It’s practically impossible to put the litter box anywhere without it making a mess. Especially in a small house. Cleaning the stuff up is stinky, messy, and not pleasant.

However, the good news about dogs is that they don’t need litter boxes. They can be house trained and most can stick to a schedule. They can just use the yard or they can do their business during walks around the neighborhood. You only have to pick it up outside, and you only need to scoop the poop up. Not the urine, the way you do with litter boxes.

Plus, cleaning up the dog’s poop is much easier than cleaning out the cat’s stinky litter box. You can simply use the pooper scooper in your yard, and you can easily use poop bags on walks. Cleaning up poop may not be fun, but many people prefer it much more than cleaning the litter box. Best of all, the business happens outside, not inside your home!

Dogs just wanna have fun with you!

Cats can play, but there’s only so much you can do with your cat. Perhaps you can watch them bat a toy around, but it’s almost like they’re just trying to humor you. Cats are better off playing on their own than with people.

On the other hand, dogs absolutely love to play! Especially with you! You can play fetch with a frisbee, or a ball, have a good chase in the yard or have a good game of tug-of-war. You can even set up a play-date for your dog to play with another pup in the neighborhood. Just make sure they get along well. Dogs are very active and have a lot more playful energy than cats do.

Training dogs is easier!

Okay, so cats can technically be trained, but dogs can be trained a lot easier. Cats can be trained, but even the owners of cats say that it’s difficult to train them. In fact, food-motivated cats are still hard to train because eventually they get tired of it and knock the food out of your hand, and walk away. In general, cats could train us humans better than we could train them.

However, dogs actually enjoy training. They find it entertaining. Dogs seem to get much more motivated by food and attention. They will gladly sit, lay down, shake, and roll over for a delicious reward. Dogs seem to display a sense of pride when they do a good job at something. In fact, dogs misbehave more when they are bored.

 Dogs protect you!

It’s not in a cat’s nature to protect bravely, in fact, cats actually run and hide when they’re in danger. On the other hand, dogs try to protect and defend their owners when they are in danger. They even scare off intruders. Dogs can sense when we feel threatened, and do the best to try and help.

Small dogs are not as good as big dogs at defending. However, small dogs are much more alert and know when their owner is in danger. Even though they may be small, people still stay away from them because they have a fear of being bitten. So, kitties can’t really do much when it comes to defending.

Dogs are much better than cats. Cats can’t defend you when you need it, they can’t be trained easily, and they don’t even like to play with you. But dogs are the perfect companions because they can do all of these things.
