Brandy Melville is known to be a shop for trends and the basics of clothing. There is more to this story though for example why do they sell olive oil or why does brandy have a part of their store named after a book character they did not write? Most importantly, why do they only sell extra small? Brandy Melville has been hiding the weird and creepy things this company does. Things have recently been revealed and these things are weird. We have all been to online clothing shops before but have they ever sold olive oil. Probably not, right? Well, brandy Melville does and Salivo Marsan the founder of brandy had a family-owned olive oil company. The 16.9-ounce organic olive oil is 25$ per bottle is made on Italy’s San Bartolome family farm. This company was founded in the early 80’s so why do they still sell it? Many people say it’s a tribute to Salivo’s family. People say it’s “ quite tasty” and “very delightful”. The bottle doesn’t have any recognition of brandy Melville, just a green bottle with a chicken on it. This olive oil has gotten quite popular over the past weeks and is selling out because of one Tik Tok video that went viral.
Who is John Galt?
As interesting as having olive oil sold on Brandy Melville’s website it’s even more strange how they got their name. You may not know but brandy Melville has a section of their store called “ John Galt”. Now what makes this weirder is that John Galt is a fictional character from Ayn Rand’s novel. To my knowledge, John played a mysterious character in the shadows. Most people say this is a horrible book with horrible characters and an even worse plot so it’s weird that the founder named it after this character. He might as well have named it Harry Potter or Cindy Lou Hoo. No one knows why he called it this but there are references to John Galt. It’s strange to name a sub-brand after a mystery man.
Only extra small
Extra small is a very unpopular size here in America. So it’s weird when a brand that their main audience is American girls sells only an extra small. Well not for Brandy Melville, brandy only sells extra small and people are very upset and are heated about this. For example, there are multiple youtube videos and articles because this is such a beloved brand. Their company says that “ it helps girls and women get into shape” however we both know this is not the case. Sadly Brandy will probably never change their ways.
In conclusion, brandy Melville is a strange brand, and that people really would love to see it change like if they had more size options. There is still confusion about John Galt and their sub-brand. maybe one day it will be revealed. It’s sweet that Salivo put his family’s olive oil company on his website. That is Brandy Melville and although they haven’t done the weirdest things it’s strange. this beloved brand has gotten a lot of hate recently there is why.
