Breaking Down the Drake vs. Kendrick Rap Beef

Breaking Down the Drake vs. Kendrick Rap Beef

If you’re a rap fan, you’ve surely heard of this most recent beefs. It is one of the biggest beefs ever, with so many different artists being a part of it. Now, some of this beef started in, like 2013, but I’m going to break down the most recent developments.

Drake – First Person Shooter Lyrics | Genius LyricsNovember 15th, 2023

First Person Shooter – Drake, J. Cole

Drake collaborated with Jermaine Cole on his most recent album, For All The Dogs. J. Cole states on that song, “Love when they argue the hardest MC Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali.” This means that he states he’s better than Drake and Kendrick Lamar. On Drake’s own song too…

Future, Metro Boomin, Kendrick Lamar - Like That (Official Audio)March 22, 2024

Like That – Metro Boomin’, Future, Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick’s first song since before the aforementioned FPS, he cooked. Stating, “…first person shooter. I hope they came with three switches I crash out, like, “f-ck rap, ” this Melle Mel if I had to..”, “Motherf-ck the big three, n-gga, it’s just big me.”, and finally the bold statement of, “And your best work is a light pack. N-gga, Prince outlive Mike Jack. N-gga, bum, ‘fore all your dogs gettin’ buried. That’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see Pet Sematary. N-gga, bum.” All of this shows how heated this beef is. He says that he will be better than Drake in the end, and that Drake’s newest album, FATD, will get buried. He additionally says that he is better than J. Cole and Drake. Straight up insane.

J. Cole expresses regret over Kendrick Lamar dissApril 5, 2024

7 Minute Drill – J. Cole

Jermaine’s official response to Kendrick’s verse came on his newest project ‘Might Delete Later’. He says in the now deleted song, “He still doin’ shows, but fell off like the Simpsons. Your first sh-t was classic, your last sh-t was tragic. Your second sh-t put n-ggas to sleep, but they gassed it. Your third   sh-t was massive and that was your prime. I was trailin’ right behind and I just now hit mine. Now I’m front of the line with a comfortable lead. How ironic, soon as I got it, now he want somethin’ with me.” J. Cole makes the bold statement that he is in his prime, and as soon as he hit it, K-Dot wants something with him. As of recent years, the creativity and work of the Simpsons has gone down, which he compares to Kendrick’s recent quality. He also disses Kendrick’s album, saying that Grammy winning ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers’ was “tragic”. ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’, arguably Lamar’s best album, was essentially called a snooze fest. Cole later apologized for his remarks and took down the song. I guess the album title cam true.

Champagne Moments - Single - Album by Rick Ross - Apple MusicApril 15, 2024

Champagne Moments – Rick Ross

Rick Ross officially joined the absolute war, dropping a song underneath his label Maybach Music. the album cover is a hilarious picture of a white version of Drake. Ross stays with this theme by calling Drake “white boy” 7 times during the single. He also has a sound clip of Drake saying, “By the way, I got a lot of respect for a lot of rappers. But I got one guy. He’s my favorite person to rap with on any song. His name is Rick Ross.” I won’t include any other lyrics, because the entire song is a diss on Champagne Papi, with the words “BBL Drizzy” on the cover.

Stream HEATGENERAL | Listen to Drake, Tupac/2Pac, Snoop Dogg/AI - TAYLOR MADE FREESTYLE/Kendrick Lamar Diss (Taylor Swift Diss) playlist online for free on SoundCloudApril 19, 2024

Taylor Made Freestyle – Drake, Tupac, Snoop Dogg

Taylor Made Freestyle’, by Drake, came out on . But, he used AI generated voices of Snoop Dogg and 2Pac. The 2Pac estate found out about this, and didn’t want the rap legend’s name to be tarnished siding with Drake. They called Kendrick Lamar, “…a good friend to the Estate…” Drake then took the song down after 2Pac’s estate threatened to sue him. The song featured an AI rendition of Snoop and ‘Pac, whom Kendrick Lamar looked up to, egging him on and telling him to beat Drake.

Drake – Push Ups Lyrics | Genius LyricsApril 19, 2024

Push Ups – Drake

Aubrey officially responded via music. the album cover is a shoe sizing, size 7 Men’s, which is Kendrick Lamar’s shoe size. Drake additionally sings, ” ‘Cause Top told you, “Drop and give me 50, ” like some push-ups, huh.”, which means that K-Dot would do whatever his record label, Top Dawg, told him to. Drake later says on Push Ups, “What the f-ck is this, a 20-v-1, n-gga? What’s a prince to a king? He a son, n-gga. Get more love in the city that you from, n-gga. Metro, shut your h- -ss up and make some drums, n-gga.” At this point, after Cole surrendered, and pretty much all of his allies aren’t doing anything, it could be  a 20 v 1. Travis Scott, and Kanye West, both of which are battling legal problems right now, have sided against Drake, even after the 6ix God said, “Pipsqueak, pipe down. You ain’t in no big three, SZA got you wiped down, Travis got you wiped down, Savage got you wiped down.” Drake also said about Cole, “I don’t care what Cole think, that Dot sh-t was weak as f-ck.”

32 Funny Kanye West Memes of All Time | Kanye west funny, Funny kanye, Kanye west memeApril 21, 2024

Like That Remix – Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign, Future, Metro Boomin’, Kendrick Lamar

Kanye released this song on social media on the 21st of April. He takes shots at Drake by saying, “I can’t even think of a Drake line.” A small diss, but a powerful one. In one line, he states  that Drake’s ghostwriters are boring and forgettable.

Kendrick Lamar - YouTubeApril 30, 2024

Euphoria – Kendrick Lamar

He continued to stoke the  flames of Drake by stating lyrics such as, “When I see you stand by Sexyy Red, I believe you see two bad b-tches.”, “I’m knowin’ they call you The Boy, but where is a man? ‘Cause I ain’t seen him yet.”, “We don’t wanna hear you say “n-gga” no more.”, “Ain’t 20-v-one, it’s one-v-20 if I gotta smack n-ggas that write with you.” Once again calling Drake out for being light-skinned, he says he doesn’t like it when King Drizzy Slime uses a derogatory slur. He also calls out Drake for his ghostwriting, and one of his nicknames, the Boy. He also exposes Drake’s zestiness and his strange collaboration with SZA and Sexyy Red on Rich Baby Daddy.  This song is a diss filled masterpiece, just like the aforementioned songs ‘Champagne Moments’ and ‘Push Ups’.

6:16 in LA – Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick follows up on Euphoria with 6:16 in LA. It’s a mock of Drake’s signature series, where he has a location and time, including ‘8am in Charlotte’, ‘5 Am in Toronto’, etc. In the song, he says, “Your lil memes is losing steam, they figured you out.” This is a callback to the several memes Drake is blowing up for multiple memes… He addtionally disses his workers at the OVO label saying, “If you were street smart, then you woulda caught that your entourage is only to hustle you. A hundred n-ggas that you got on salary, and twenty of ’em want you as a casualty.” and “Can’t Toosie Slide up outta this one, it’s just gon’ resurface.”,  which is an allusion to Drake’s 2020 song, Toosie Slide. 6/16 is father’s day, and also Tupac Shakur’s Birthday. Kendrick continues with a diss in Euphoria where he said, “…I got a son to raise, but I can see you don’t know nothin’ ’bout that.”

RapTV on X: "BREAKING: Drake dropped “Family Matters” on YouTube‼️😳 https://t.co/8BDQol84sb" / XMay 3, 2024

Family Matters – Drake

Drake states in the song, “Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go hand him a Grammy right now. Where is your uncle at? ‘Cause I want to speak to the man of the house.” It’s a good song with beat switches and everything, and he calls Rick Ross “Ozempic”.  Too good. He also says, “You write about “F-ck the big three,” it’s only Big D and there’s video proof.” following up on a certain leak that happened a couple of weeks ago. Additionally, Drizzy says, “You called the Tupac estate and begged ’em to sue me and get that sh-t down.”

Meet The Grahams Cover Art : r/KendrickLamarMeet the Grahams – Kendrick Lamar

He starts off talking to Adonis, Drake’s son. He says he’s sorry that his dad is his dad. He does the same to Drake’s parents, Dennis and Sandra. He calls him a “horrible f-cking person.” He also accuses Drake of having a daughter, who Drake  allegedly hid her from the public. Just listen to the song. It’s really tough.

Not Like Us – Kendrick Lamar

In this masterpiece, he claims that Drake is a pedophile. He says, “Say, Drake, I hear you like ’em young.”, “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles.”, “To any b-tch that talk to him and they in love. Just make sure you hide your lil’ sister from him.”, “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A-Minor.”. Insane. I don’t see how Drake can follow this up, but he probably will. Somehow. He also says, “Lil Baby helped you get your lingo up (What?)
21 (Savage) gave you false street cred. (Young) Thug made you feel like you a slime in your head. Quavo said you can be from Northside (What?). 2 Chainz say you good, but he lied.”

Drake has dug himself into a 6 foot deep hole with all his yapping. All of this is insane, and this is just the major players in the beef. Also, there has been many social media posts, and disses at concerts, but this article was just about the songs. Personally, I am on Team Kendrick. Especially since the master piece that is Euphoria dropped, I think Kendrick won. If Drake follows up on this, he’s more insane than Kanye. Look, I like Drake, he’s really, really, really strange, and he might just be the biggest meme in a while, but Kendrick just has the better team. Kanye, Future, Metro, Kendrick, Ross, Travis Scott, etc, is too good to be beat by 21 Savage, Drake, SZA and those OVO label guys like PARTYNEXTDOOR.

In my opinion, Drake needs to stop. I am writing this on May 7th, and after this, I’m done updating it. I’ve added reports of five or six songs in the writing of  this article. Additionally,  I will not cover ‘The Heart Part 6’.
