The Elisa Lam Mystery

The Elisa Lam Mystery

Elisa Lam was a 21-year-old college student from Canada with Bipolar Disorder. She was on a west coast tour &, on January 1st, 2013, she checked into the Cecil Hotel. The Cecil Hotel opened on December 20th, 1924, in Downtown Los Angeles. Ever since it opened its doors, it has been the center of too many issues making it one of the most notorious places in the US. It even hosted famous serial killers like Richard Ramirez & Jack Unterweger.

She initially checked into a type of hotel room where she had roommates but had to be moved because of odd behavior. We can get a grasp on what behavior they’re talking about in the security camera footage that went viral of her in the elevator taken on February 1st. If you have never seen it, the general rundown is that she walks in, presses most of the buttons to the floors, walks out of the elevator, walks back in. She then jumps in & out of the elevator, hides in the corner, slowly looks out, leaves, & starts doing hand gestures, & finally leaves the elevator for good. Mind you, during all of this, the elevator never once closed its doors or left the original floor until after she walked away from the elevator at the end. This is the last sighting of Elisa Lam alive. People were immediately worried, her family flying over to help look, her case being on the news, & police searching the hotel to the fullest extent. They even brought dogs on the roof, but they didn’t detect her scent.

18 days after the security footage the hotel starts receiving complaints from guests complaining that the water pressure is very low, tasted funny, & even discoloration of the water, some of the people’s water even being black. The hotel sent Santiago Lopez, a hotel maintenance worker, to check out the 1000 gallon tanks on the roof. There he found the lifeless body of Elisa Lam, naked with her clothes floating around with her. They were the same clothes seen on the security footage. To get on the roof you would need to enter with either a keycard or if the alarms were disarmed which only Santiago could do. After getting on the roof you would need to climb the ten-foot tanks, move the 20lbs lid, climb in, & close it again. This would be impossible since there wasn’t a ladder on the roof or any other way up there. She also could’ve gotten there from the fire escape but still couldn’t have climbed up there. The reason the dogs didn’t find her when they had searched on the roof, it’s because the lid was closed. The tanks are very tightly closed, & of course, they didn’t suspect the tanks at the time. That’s all we truly know about the case, but there are a million theories out there, some of those we will now go over.

Drugs

A theory is that she was on drugs or hallucinogens which would explain how she was acting in the elevator. This theory was quickly debunked however because a toxicology report says she was not on any drugs or alcohol.

Bipolar Episode

Since she had Bipolar disorder this was an obvious cause of death to many. She was off of her four medications according to the toxicology report, it would explain the behavior, & more. Though it still wouldn’t make sense how she made it up there since she was a small woman who wasn’t very strong.

Suicide

Another theory was that she killed herself because she was depressed. She had a blog where she was very open about her disorder, & many people think based on how she had been recently she did it herself. But, many things still didn’t add up with that theory.

Murdered by a hotel worker

This is one of the most plausible theories. In the elevator video, there is about one minute of missing footage & the only people who could have corrupted it would be staff members. In the video, she also could have been hiding from workers & stuff but stayed out of frame because they know where the cameras are pointing. They are also the only people who could get on the roof & could have easily pretended to be fixing something in the water tank so they brought a ladder, brought her up, dumped her body, & left. The workers at that hotel even had a history of sexually harassing, & in some cases, raping their tenants. An investigator said she seemed to have been strangled, & raped before her body was dumped which would explain why her clothes were off. The LAPD failed to do a rape test as well as a rape drug test.

Possession

Many people believe this theory because the Cecil Hotel is said to be haunted. Many people claim to have been choked by thin air, someone even dying by choking with no culprit. They think she was possessed & was forced into killing herself. If you believe in possession it seems fairly plausible but, if you don’t like most, it sounds dumb.

Elevator Game

The elevator game is a Korean game in which you travel to an alternate dimension. It is said that when you return you are extremely disoriented & confused which could explain her behavior. I don’t know much about the game, but the rules are to the right. However, she is never seen  playing the game or following any of the rules.

Dark Water

A movie from 2005 titled Dark Water, perfectly portrays everything that happened to Elisa. People in the hotel were saying that their water was really weird, & then found a decomposing body in the water tank. In the movie, there were also elevator problems, & the main character was also talking to some imaginary thing. The main character was even wearing the same clothes as Elisa. The theory is that she or someone else wanted to recreate the events of this movie. We have seen this theory in many cases before, so it isn’t too odd.

Tuberculosis Test Coverup

At the time of her stay, there was an outbreak of tuberculosis in the downtown LA area. The strange thing was that the tests that were being conducted were called LAM ELISA. The main drug of treatment for tuberculosis is said to cause delusion & abnormal behavior. But, once again, the toxicology report shows she had no drugs in her system.

The autopsy report determined that her cause of death was accidental drowning but, we will never truly know. There are so many things that could have been investigated that were not. Believe whatever you want, either by researching more theories, creating new ones, agreeing with one here, or a mix of any of them. Unfortunately, We will never know what happened, & her family will always be asking questions.

Coronavirus

Coronavirus

The CoronaVirus is becoming a big thing. It’s scaring lots of people. At Costco they’re running out of things such as plastic water bottle cases and toilet paper. People are stocking up. Here are some ways that you can prevent from getting the Corornavirus and symptoms of the coronavirus.

Number one, wash your hands with soap and water. Get your hands wet with warm water then get soap, rub your       hands together with the soap for about 20-30 seconds. Then rinse your hands under warm water. Another way is, always wash your hands before you eat or drink. It’s best to wash your hands when you’re out in public. If you’re not able to wash your hands carry around hand sanitizer. When washing it may work better if you don’t just rub the palms of your hands together, try to wash in between your fingers. You should wash your hands after touching your phone,      because you set your phone everywhere.

Number two, try to keep your hands away from your mouth, eyes and nose. You may come in contact with the coronavirus either through a counter top or a door knob. And when this happens and you put your hands by your eyes, nose, or mouth you have a better chance of getting it. If you need to touch your face try and wash your hands before doing so.

Number three, stay clear from those who are coughing or sneezing. Because the coronavirus is a respiratory system infection, coughing and sneezing can be symptoms. Additionally you just want to stay away from those who have any sort of respiratory system infection. When you sneeze in the air, it’s letting out some of the virus you have and if you sneeze on someone its putting the sickness you have one someone else.

Number four, don’t shake hands with people, that includes high fiving even if they don’t show symptoms. People are able to spread illness even if they aren’t showing or having symptoms. To protect yourself kindly tell people that you don’t want to shake hands with them until the coronavirus is over.

Number five, clean surfaces daily using a product that kills virus’ or germs. The coronavirus can stay on faucets, door knobs, and counter tops. To help clean the surfaces, use bleach wipes or disinfectant spray to clean these surfaces. Keep it wet with the cleaning stuff for about 10 minutes so it can effectively get rid of the virus’.

Number six, Open up windows to let fresh air in if the weather is appropriate. The coronavirus is an in the air virus, if you share a room with a sick person it’d be best to open up a window. If you’re not able to open up a window an air conditioner would work, but not as well.

Number seven, try not to eat as much food that has come from animals. The coronavirus is able to spread from animals to humans. If you do eat food that has come from animals make sure it’s cooked well so all the germs are killed. To make sure your foods are okay to eat chicken and turkey the temperature should be 165 degrees F, beef and pork should be at 145 degrees F, ground meat should be at 160 degrees F, and eggs need to reach 160 degrees F. Cook at these temperatures just in case, so you dont get sick.

Stay home if you start to get a respiratory system infection. It could be the coronavirus and it couldn’t be but its able to spread.

These are ways to detect coronavirus. Make sure to take your temperature, if your temperature is 104 degrees it’s either the coronavirus or another infection. If you do have a fever it would be best to call your doctor and discuss your systems. If you have shortness of breath or trouble breathing. If you figure out that this is happening to you, immediately contact your doctor or emergency medical care. If you have a sore throat or a runny nose, that is a possibility of a symptom.  Call your doctor if you think you have the coronavirus. To test for the virus, your doctor may do a nasal swab of your mucus or they’ll do a blood test to check for the infection.

If you are sick, stay home and rest yourself. So you can stay rested to get better and so you don’t spread the sickness you have. You’re always able to use a humidifier to thin your mucus and clear your nose a little bit. Also consume lots of fluids like soup, hot drinks, and water. Just stay hydrated.

Try not to worry so much about it if your not at much of a risk. Fake news about the coronavirus has made unnecessary fear. Just because the virus started in china, it doesn’t mean that we should treat the Asian people different.

Those are the symptoms of the coronavirus and ways you can prevent it.

Tornadoes

Tornadoes

Tornadoes

Tornadoes are formed from thunderstorms, you need warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and cool dry air from Canada. When those two air masses meet, they create a instability atmosphere. Rising the air within the draft tilts the rotating the air from horizontal to vertical.

Southeast Tornadoes

In Dixie Alley, tornadoes are harder to spot and occurs at night. Unlike the plain where the tornadoes can be seen from miles away, you can’t spot the tornadoes in the south because of the rugged terrain and it has more trees there. Which makes it difficult to spot a tornado. Lots of the tornadoes that occur in the area, are rain-wrapped so they are less visible to the eye.

Lots of the tornadoes there move faster and stay on the ground longer, because they are pushed with a stronger jet stream which results with a faster moving storm. It’s not uncommon for the tornadoes there to move upward of 50 miles per hour.

Is It Hard To Live In A Place With Tornadoes Like That?

It’s hard to live there because with how fast the tornadoes are going, and how the tornadoes come up at night. The people there are most likely to be sleep when the tornadoes happen. It ends up putting more pressure on the forecaster because, they have to get the information out to the public in enough time that the public can react to the warning.

Nashville residents have only minutes to react before the tornadoes hit their home. Many house there don’t have a basement there or a underground shelter.

Densely Populated

The southeast are densely populated, which means more death there. As you move east from Kansas to Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, the population increases rapidly. They also have a problem with more mobile house. If you get hit in a mobile home, you are more likely to get killed. You have a unique exposure, and vulnerability problem in a mobile home.

Even though there are more tornadoes in Tornado Alley then in Dixie Alley, there has been more deaths in Dixie then in Tornado because Dixie Alley has a more populated area.

Tornado In Southeast Area

The tornadoes that hit in Tennessee on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 hours after midnight killed at least 24 people some of them in bed asleep. The tornadoes, destroyed 140 building there in Tennessee and buried many people in rubble and wrecked basements. The tornadoes came at such a fast speed, that if anyone was in the way of the tornadoes they wouldn’t have enough time to get away from the tornadoes.

The government send out many search and rescue team to the area of the tornadoes. They found 25 people died and a number of people missing. When morning came they found blown down walls, flattened home, building, and business, with broken power lines, and snapped trees making the roads and street impassable.

In one neighborhood volunteers found five bodies, and they are still looking for two more bodies.

One of the people there in Nashville in the time of the tornadoes stated that, “ The dogs started to bark before the sirens went off. They knew what was coming,” said Paula Wade, of east Nashville.

Roofs came crashing down on many people, when they were just waking up to the sirens. Many people got trapped inside, but were able to find a way out of their houses. Mike Stephens woke up to a tree falling through his roof.

Gov. Bill Lee said that he saw many people going to peoples aid and help out one another. He said “ In the worst circumstances, the best of people comes out, and that’s what we’re seeing,” he said.

In Nashville, the tornadoes hit mostly north and east of the heart of downtown. The tornadoes spared many of the towns tourist attracts. The twister decided to hit and destroy the largely African American of Bordeaux .and North Nashville, and neighborhoods.

Many Nashville residents walk around on the sidewalks, that are littered with trash and parts of peoples homes. They are able to look into peoples house. With missing walls, and missing roofs you can easily look into peoples kitchen and into peoples living rooms.

The National Weather Services said that the tornadoes inflicted the east part of Tennessee. They also decided that the infliction of the tornadoes was at least a EF-3 intensity, the agent said.

One of the twister destroyed homes, and buildings a crossed a 10-mile stretch. The tornadoes, inflicted three dozen buildings some of it including the tower, and stained glass of a historic church. One of the other tornadoes destroyed 100 structures, along a 2 mile stretch. The tornadoes wiped away houses and brought the wreckage far away.
