You should probably start your holiday shopping and here’s why

I’m sure we all know what Black Friday is about and how it’s the official kick-off to holiday shopping. However, this year it began on October 4th when Amazon’s massive Deals for days promotions began.

Begin your holiday gift shopping early and here’s why.

Some major retailers such as Target and Amazon have already launched some of their early Black Friday deals, with Amazon tweeting that they have already sold more than One million toys from their “Holiday toy list” for children in October. A recent poll shows that half of Americans have already started their holiday shopping and because of this many major retailers are running into a lot of out-of-stock items.

If you haven’t started your holiday shopping yet, luckily you still have some time but not long if you’re going to get all the gifts on lists here’s what you’re going to need to know, which is going to include the best time to start, “the products which our experts predict are going to sell out and the 2021 shipping delays.” sentences in parentheses are lines straight from the article.

Here’s exactly why you should start shopping early.

Some struggling supply chains and labor shortages have experts predicting that many products will be in low supply and many products will have shipping delays, some even longer than last year. Now combine all those factors and add in the online shoppers, now knowing just this information this should hopefully start prompting you to start holiday shopping early.

TingLong Dai Professor of Operations Management & Business Analytics at John Hopkins University Carey Business School states that “We have a lot of goods already arriving in the U.S. or on their way here. Now knowing this and item and delivery delays it will probably take many months to sort out.

Even the white house has been warning shoppers about the turbulent shopping season coming, press secretary, Jen Psaki stated that they “cannot guarantee” that packages will arrive on Christmas due to supply chain disruptions.

Hot items you should buy before they sell out.

  • Electronics- Nintendo Switches and Amazon Alexa Echo dots are both on many people’s lists.
  • Toys- Squishmallows, Cocomelon JJ doll is available for preorder, Bluey family home playset, Lego star wars advent calendar, Barbie Dreamhouse.
  • Home goods and apparel- UGG fluff yeah slippers, Always pan from our house. (this list of items were stated in the article)

When exactly should you start shopping?

While Black Friday may seem like a good time to start your holiday shopping, you may want to continue to think about that for a bit, but don’t worry Black Friday is over so good for you, you were able to stay away from shipping and labor delays! But that doesn’t mean there are no shortages anymore. Since Black Friday is over, and a lot of people are ordering during that time, shipping and labor shortages are more likely to happen during that time. You may be asking yourself well when should I order my gifts now? I would recommend starting ASAP. Here’s why I would recommend starting ASAP especially if you are shopping online. Because of the delays I was talking about earlier. But if you do want to shop online you should be starting soon so that you don’t have to come in contact with any shipping problems. Like I stated early, you don’t want to come in contact with labor shortages, if you don’t start now/soon all of your orders may not get here but the holidays.

Here is how to live a longer and healthier life

Here is how to live a longer and healthier life

Do you want to live a longer life? Be a healthier and happier person? Well here are 5 keys to do so.

Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health held a massive study on the impact of health habits on life expectancy.

These are some of the answers they got from the study. Using data they found from Well-known nurses and health professionals’ follow-up studies. Harvard Health states that “this shows that they had data over a lot of people for a long period.” It is also stated that they had found data on over 78,000 women from 1986 to 2014. “This is over 120,000 participants, 34 years worth of data for Women and 28 years for men.” It is stated that researchers look at “diets, physical activity, body weight, smoking, and alcohol consumption.”

What is counted as a “Healthy Lifestyle exactly?”

People say that these 5 areas were chosen because they have had a big impact on the risk of premature death. These are the things you can do to have a healthy lifestyle.

 1. Start a healthy diet, When I think of diets I think of salads, let’s see what they say about diets. Harvard Health reported that” The intake of healthy foods such as Fruits, Nuts, Vegetables, Whole Grains, and omega-3 fatty acids, and unhealthy foods like red onions, processed meats, sugar-sweetened beverages, trans fat, and sodium.”

2. You may be asking yourself how long do I need to be working out for it to start doing something? Harvard Health states that “at least 30 minutes per day of moderate to vigorous activity.”

  1.  What is the weight that is considered “healthy?” “normal body weight is 18.5kg to 24.9kg.”
  2.  Does smoking change how healthy or unhealthy you are? Harvard Health says that “There is no healthy amount of smoking.” Which is also saying don’t smoke to be healthy.

  1.  If you do decide to have alcohol here is the intake to maintain being healthy. 5 and 15 grams per day for women and 5 to 30 grams per day for men. Harvard Health says that “generally alcohol has 14 grams of pure alcohol. Which is the same as 12 ounces of regular beer, 5 ounces of regular wine, or 1.5 ounces of distilled spirits.

Harvard Health also says that when they research they also look at medication intake, age, ethnicity.

Does having a healthy lifestyle change anything?

It has been researched that having a healthy lifestyle makes a big difference. It is also recorded that people who fulfilled all 5 habits enjoyed significantly longer lives than those who did none of the habits. 14 years for women and 12 for men. If they started the habits at 50 years old. People who did none of these habits were far more likely to die prematurely of cancer or cardiovascular disease. I hope you enjoyed reading about “5 keys to living a longer life” and maybe learned something you didn’t know before reading this. I also got this article and information

Trending new brownie flavors you may like to try!

Trending new brownie flavors you may like to try!

Did you know that there is not just one brownie flavor? Here’s a list of a few new flavors. That you should go try!

Ice cream sundae brownie, chocolate chip brownie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and rainbow sprinkles- to me in my opinion it sounds like there is too much in one and it would be super sweet to me. So it probably would not be my favorite but I would still try it.

Next, is a S’mores brownie topped with marshmallow glaze, melted Hershey, and graham cracker crumbles- I think this one would be interesting, good but interesting. I think it would be interesting because there is just a lot you could compare it to. Does it taste like a regular S’more or does it taste like creamy S’more’s ice cream? But I would probably try it.

This one is called Strawberry shortcake brownie, this one just sounds disgusting to me, let’s see what’s all in it though. This Strawberry Shortcake Brownie is topped with creme fraiche, whipped cream, and macerated strawberries. This is one I do not think I would care about trying. It doesn’t sound like my favorite.

This next one is called Maple Bacon Brownie, in it, it’s topped with maple glaze and crumbled bacon. I would try this one. I think it would be pretty good because the Maple bacon doughnuts are pretty good and I think it would be similar to that, just chocolatey.

The next one is flavored “Cookie’s n Cream ”- bakers.com This one is a chocolate glazed brownie, topped with crushed Oreos, Cream cheese, and whipped cream. I think that it sounds like Blondies with an Oreo in the middle (if you haven’t had it before you should try it.) The Blondies with Oreo are good so I think this would be good too. I am a little bit confused though because in the article, for this specific brownie it just says cream cheese so is it like frosting or a block of cream cheese on top? Those were all the flavors. What one(s) would you try?

Let’s talk about food science,

Typically when you are making Brownies especially you usually use unsalted butter or food oils stated Daniel Strats. Although there is a baker, food science perspective, who works at ‘Strats’ Food. He and the workers at Strats food use Margarine, shortenings, and oils. It says in the article that these few ingredients are “outstanding” substitutes for butter and food oils. It also says that when making brownies and the recipes ask for butter he says that margarine is a less important option, due to the typical brownies’ use of ingredients, which imparts the intense chocolate flavor.

Brownie Creaming Tips

Most brownies are made with a creaming method, Daniel from ‘Strats’ explains that the dry ingredients in the recipe are blended without the liquid ingredients. Then without the dry ingredients, you combine the liquid ingredients. When blended, the liquid and dry ingredients are mixed to cream together. This step provides for lubrication and air entrapment to achieve a post-baked brownie that delivers on a chewy yet airy texture.- bakers.com

These are some brownies you can try and a few steps you can follow to make them airy and soft. I found this article on Bakers.com.

The queen of England does not feel old and here’s why.

The queen of England does not feel old and here’s why.

The Queen of England, who is 95 years old, says she does not feel old. She recently was awarded “Oldie of the year.” She also said she feels too young at heart to be awarded Oldie of the year. Reuters.com

“Oldie of the year”

Organizers of the tongue-in-cheek awards have given Oscar-winning actors, Nobel laureates, and the Queen’s mother, who died at 101 years old in 2002. Approached the Monarch to ask the Queen if she would consider the honors herself. The broadcaster, Gyles Brandreth, received a lovely heart-warming letter from the Queen politely declining the offer. It then states that the Queen says, “you are as old as you feel.” The Queen, who recently said she does not feel that she fits the relevant criteria to accept the award, said she hopes they find a more worthy person to be awarded “Oldie of the year.” Said the letter from the Monarchs Tom Laing-Baker, assistant private secretary.
Elizabeth follows in her late husband, Phillip, who was also awarded the same award and declined the offer. Which has been running for 29 years to be a celebration to contribute to the older generations from the public.

A decade ago, Prince Phillip said, “There is nothing more moral to be reminded that the years are coming ever more quickly, and the bits are beginning to be dropped off in more ancient time.” That was said from Phillip according to Tom Laing- Baker. Later stated by Reuters.com.
The royal Ceremony they had this year was still able to have a “seal of approval.” Which was presented by Camilla, wife of Elizabeth’s son Prince Charles.
Brandreth then said in her magazine article, “Long live the Queen! Perhaps in the future, we will sound out Her Majesty once more,”

What I Think

In my opinion, I understand why she would want to follow after Prince Phillip and not accept the award. I also think it would have been cool to follow after her mom. But I understand how she doesn’t feel old, so she doesn’t want to be reminded how old she is. I think she is in a hard spot, though too, because of her health and how she was just released from the hospital, so I could see how she doesn’t want to be overwhelmed too. So I think if I were her, I would probably decline the offer as well just because of everything that was going on in my life.

A Utah surgeon treats Swedish girl with rare epilepsy

A Utah surgeon treats a Swedish girl with rare epilepsy, the First child from Europe to get a brain transplant.
Four years ago, Edith Mölstad was a perfectly healthy seven year old, who loved her friends and school. Suddenly she developed a very severe case of epilepsy.
In 2017 while Edith was at school her father got a call from the school that Edith was sick and had a fever. Her father thought nothing of it. He thought it was just a regular stomach bug.
For a couple of days, they said Edith had Flu-like symptoms and that they thought she was getting better. One day Edith decided to sleep in her mother’s room, when they got up in the morning the mother said Edith would not wake up.
Machina Mölstad, her mother yelled for her husband. When he came into the room he said Edith was covered in sweat, shaking, and had blood all around her mouth. She was now having Back-to-back seizures. She was also in a state of epileptics. Which means she would remain unconscious. Not knowing that she would not wake up for another month. Which she said during the interview to KSL.

That was just the starting point for us on this horrible journey father, Carl Mölstad said.

After years on this horrible journey, a team of surgeons at Primary Children’s hospital created an implant to go into Ediths brain to hopefully help prevent the seizures. She then became the first child in Europe and Sweden to receive this kind of surgery.
Over the next few weeks, she’d been unconscious, and was at an Intensive Care Unit in South Sweden. Was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of epilepsy called febrile infection-related epilepsy syndrome or FIRES. They say this disease comes most commonly from school-aged kids who are healthy and then get a minor infection, followed by seizures.
Then, Edith was not responding to the medicine well and her fever would not break. The doctors also couldn’t make the seizures stop.
Her father then said, “A couple of times we almost lost her.” Which he said in the interview.
After a couple of days, she was able to get back some conciseness. Though she still was having seizures that would knock her down, mood and well-being. Her family said that they tried “everything they could”. Such as Injections, diets, and medicine.

In June 2021, Edith was able to get the surgery and she was the first child from Europe and Sweden.
The Molstads minus the youngest child, now wear black shirts to the interviews saying I am a FIRES fighter.
Edith will have to travel back to Utah every 2-3 months to get the device adjusted, for about 2 years.
So far her family has not seen much improvement. Edith still spends most of her time on the couch with her iPad, watching the other children play through the window. But now her family sits with the hope that this treatment will give her the ability to live, not just survive.
They don’t know the final cost but so far they have paid $100,000.

Just after the mother, Machina Molstad decided to do her research herself and buried herself in Medical Literature.
“You see your daughter is suffering badly and slipping away each day. It’s an enormous feeling of powerlessness. It’s just too horrible to accept.”Said Edith’s doctor which they added in the interview.

Carl Molstad then started a blog to document this experience, and hopefully raise funds for his daughter’s treatment.
But he found that talking about all the parts of having or helping someone that has epilepsy and writing out all that they had been through really helped him process it all. They have managed to collect 2,000 euros in funding through GoFundMe and connect with other families who have similar experiences.
I got this information off of KSL.com, I also got the article off of KSL.
