Utah Jazz offseason moves

Utah Jazz made some interesting moves this offseason and it’s not even over yet. Their biggest new edition is Derrick Favors. Favors who played for the jazz in 2018 is coming back. He went to the pelicans for the 2019 season and did pretty good with them. We needed another big back up or a good PF. So either way this was a great sign.

Another big move was to re-sign Jordan Clarkson. In the playoffs he was one of the biggest scorers coming off the bench. He was really good and put up some much needed scoring when we needed it. I feel like this sign is really good and a great move by the jazz.

Next was Max Donovan Mitchell. He is our best player and scorer and shattered many records during the playoffs. He scored 57 points in a game which is the most points a player on the jazz has ever scored. A max means to give him the most money you can. It was a 5 year deal for 195 million dollars if he makes one of the all NBA teams. This is so great for the Jazz and the best contact they have made.

Now we have draft picks. With the 27th pick the jazz selected Udoko Azubukie from Kansas. He is a 7 footer and a great post up player. He can play good defense and a good scorer. That is what jazz struggled a lot with last year is filling the absence of Rudy Gobert when he was on the bench. Now we have Bookie and Favors to fill the hole. Next with the 39th pick we got Elijah Hughes from syracuse university. He is a guard that can shoot very well. He is extremely athletic and can go up and dunk it. If he can play defense better he will be a nice shooting guard coming off the bench.

Next we traded Tony Bradley to the Pistons for money. We got two other big men so this was a good move. Also we traded ed davis to the knicks to free up some cap space. These were small and simple moves but helped us sign clarkson and favors.

Yesterday the jazz unveiled their new city edition uniforms. There are like the old ones but fade to black. I love them and thing they are a very good and simple jersey. Lots of NBA teams have released new jerseys that are very good and this is one of them.

The NBA Championship Contenders

The NBA Championship Contenders

Since November 16, there have been quite a few surprise moves by NBA teams. Some of them include Chris Paul to the Phoenix Suns, or Jrue Holiday to the Milwaukee Bucks. But these have been rumors for a while. These next few days with the draft and free agency coming up, there could be some new championship contenders. The Houston Rockets might not be a contender anymore, and send their most valuable player to Brooklyn, as the Nets get stronger. The Milwaukee Bucks might be able to keep Giannis with some new changes to their roster. Will the Utah Jazz finally live up to their expectations? Will the Warriors continue their dynasty, or will the battle of L.A. be as close as ever. We The North will try to become We The Champs, Boston will try again after a bunch of disappointing postseasons, and The Heat will try to go one step further than last season and win a ring. This article will talk about the real champion contenders of the 2020-21 NBA season.

As trading started on November 16, there have been some surprise trades. And a bunch more may be coming. Russell Westbrook reportedly wants out of Houston, and James Harden just turned down an extension with the Rockets. Harden has a mindset with Brooklyn or bust. And that will likely turn into a reality, making the Nets legitimate contenders with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. As for Westbrook, he may go to the Knicks, Mavs, or any team that wants him.

Yesterday the Milwaukee Bucks traded Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, and sent them off to New Orleans in exchange for Jrue Holiday. They also traded for Bogdan Bogdanovic from the Sacramento Kings. Giannis Antetokounmpo was asked in a meeting if he is staying with the Bucks. He said “They need to make some changes if I do.” Right after that the Bucks got to work. They were good before but they just shut down during the playoffs. Milwaukee is trying to keep the MVP by making the Bucks a better team. It’s all or nothing for them this offseason.

The Utah Jazz just had their hearts broken on September 1st, after losing to the Nuggets in round one in game 7. They ended up giving up a 3-1 series lead even without Bojan Bogdanovic. Mike Conley played his best games with the Jazz so far this season in that series. Donovan Mitchell was carrying the Jazz with averaging forty something points and looking like MVP caliber. If Conley and Mitchell can keep playing like they did in the bubble, with Bogdanovic and Gobert by their sides, the Jazz could be good, like really good. If Donovan can keep averaging what he was, he could be an MVP candidate. If everything goes right, the Utah Jazz might be a very scary team and could very likely end up on top.

As all fans know, the Warriors have been the headline of NBA basketball for the last couple of years. Last year though, Kevin Durant left Golden State to join Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets. During the 2019 NBA finals, Klay Thompson tore his ACL. He was out the whole 2020 season, so that left everything up to Stephen Curry. Then in October, 2019, Curry broke his hand against the Phoenix Suns. The Warriors season was already going crappy but this made matters worse. But this season when the Splash Brothers are both healthy, they could have another title run, but this time with Andrew Wiggins on their side. The Warriors can be a scary team, and every NBA team knows that. So they are something you should watch out for.

The battle of Los Angeles is as close as ever. Both teams are championship contenders, but the Lakers however already have a ring and are trying to get another one. During the 2019 offseason, the Clippers signed Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. They ended up falling short of the conference finals and blowing a 3-1 lead on the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers had a great season, they won the NBA finals in 6 games against the Miami Heat. The Clippers are trying to follow in their rivals footsteps and that may be a real possibility, as for the Lakers, just keep doing what you are doing and you will be fine.

On June 13, the Toronto Raptors were NBA champs for the first time in franchise history. With Kawhi Leonard leading the way, Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry on his side, the North seemed unstoppable. The only thing getting in their way was the thought of Kawhi Leonard becoming a free agent after that season and leaving. He did, however, leave Toronto to become a Clipper that offseason. After that, it kind of seemed like the end of a good team. Many people thought that, but to their surprise, the Raptors didn’t go anywhere. They lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2nd round, but they plan to keep going. They are a team that can beat the crap out of some teams, they are a very scary team and they always put up a fight. Siakam is their leader now, along with Fred ValVleet and Kyle Lowry. This team is one of the best, and they plan to get better.

The Boston Celtics had Kyrie Irving, lost in the Conference Finals. They have Kemba Walker, and lost in the Conference Finals. The Celtics can be good, when they play well. They have a bunch of stars, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Gordon Hayward, and Kemba Walker. Hayward though wants out of Boston. And there are some rumors that the Celtics are looking to trade Kemba, if they do trade, and get something good, then they could be a title team. But, they already are. They could win this next championship. I think they just need to adjust some things and they could be really good. They might make some moves this offseason, and try once again to make it to the finals. But for now, if they play as a team and play well, I’d consider them as championship contenders.

The Miami Heat were a surprise team last year. They killed in the playoffs. But in the finals, they ended up losing in 6 games. With Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, this dynamic duo is very scary. They have some young stars like Derrick Jones Jr., Tyler Herro, and Duncan Robinson. Their veteran players are Goran Dragic, Jae Crowder, and Andre Iguodala. This whole team has good chemistry. They are really good, and they plan to go one step further this season and win a ring.

This upcoming NBA season might be one of the most exciting and competitive seasons the NBA has ever seen. There are many great teams out there but these are the ones that you should pay attention to. The winners could end up being from the city of Milwaukee, to the beaches of Los Angeles. Who knows, the Warriors might get another ring, or the Utah Jazz could get their first. The Raptors might be champs again, and the Celtics will try yet again, while the Heat try to fly past everybody again in the playoffs. This NBA season will be full of surprises and already is.

NBA potentially will allow fans into stands next season

NBA potentially will allow fans into stands next season
  • NBA potentially will allow fans into stands next season

Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, will potentially let fans into the stands next season. ¨I think we all know nothing has changed in this virus, as far as I know. I think the majority of states right now cases are ticking back up again.¨

With the Orlando bubble working well, (zero cases ¨among the players¨) the NBA will try to make it so that the Stands will be filled with fans instead of screens. But, the thing is, when are they going to start next season? When WILL the fans be back? What happens with the salary cap? When does free agency begin? When will training camps start? These questions have been among us all lately. We as the fans and coaches/ players are hoping for an answer next year.

Silver addressed many of those questions and had not many solid and/or confident answers.

And with the NFL and MLB starting up, playing in their home stadiums, and having little-to-no fans in the stands, the NBA is hoping to follow. But, there is indeed some discussion of another bubble. “I mean, I’m hoping, ideally we would not return to a bubble environment, but it’s something we’re gonna have to continue looking at,” Silver said, But I guess we have to go with whatever the world decides throws at us.

That means there is a lot to work out from figuring out a schedule to figuring out how to move forward with a revised collective bargaining agreement. If the league goes off of revenue to determine the salary cap, as normal, the cap and the luxury tax will plummet. That would leave teams without an avenue to improve, put some clubs in financial stress, and leave players who are entering free agency completely out of luck. That would put them hoping for a team in the next, NEXT season. But silver made it clear that he would not allow that.

¨Not only that the league would be crazy, a third of the NBA will be free agents next season which would mean enormous equity because there would be no room for players, because of the salary cap.¨ This would be devastating because the fans would not be there, teams would be in half and a ton of lost fans.

But there still is hope! The NFL and some MLS teams will let a limited number of fans in, so Silver didn’t rule out fans returning to NBA arenas when the new season begins, whenever that will be. Silver stated that there is almost zero chance of there being any sort of vaccine next year, so I do not see that we will be able to let fans back into games.

“I sense that with rapid testing, it may not be that we’ll have 19,000 people in the building, we’ll see. But that with appropriate protocols in terms of distancing, and with advanced testing that you will be able to bring fans back into arenas.” Said Silver.
So you may be able to see your favorite player in person next year, but as this year has gone, you never know.

The NBA’s New Announcements

The NBA’s New Announcements

                                                                         The NBA’s new announcements

The NBA has many new announcements about many different things happening right now. The next NBA season may or may not have any fans in the stands all around the country due to the Coronavirus. Many people are still hoping though that by next season there may be fans in the stands, but with all the crazy things happening right now because of the Coronavirus no one really knows. Although they have said this though there is still a very likely chance there will be no fans in the stands the whole next season. The whole next season does not really even have any plans. It is still up in the air whether they will be playing the bubble-like this year, or they will be playing in their own hometown courts. While they are talking about next season though. This 2020 NBA season is not even over yet. The final two teams have just barely got into the finals for this year. It is the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat in the finals right now the Lakers won the first game 116 to 98. There is still a chance for the Heat to make a comeback though.

After these final games though everyone will immediately start talking about what is going to happen next season. There are many other sports the NBA is looking to see if they can maybe pick up some of the strategies they are using to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus. The MLB may be letting fans in for the world series. As college sports start up again here too. There are many teams that we know will have fans at their games at least once this year. The NBA really wants to get some people in the stands. The revenue of the NBA and the amount of people watching has dropped a lot since the start of the Coronavirus season. They think getting people back in the stands will help with problems like that. There are also many questions about when training camps and things like that are going to happen. No one really knows right now, some people are also wondering when the next season starts. First, they said they are aiming for Christmas, but as the season keeps wearing on and more, more things keep happening they are starting to say it will probably start around January most likely. No one really knows what is going to happen this next season or what things are going to happen, but at least we are on the brink of finishing another great NBA season.

He has coached many professional Basketball teams including the Los Angeles Clippers, Duke, Missouri, Austin Toros, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, CSKA Moscow, Atlanta Hawks, and the Utah Jazz. Donavan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, and Joe Ingles help lead the team to victory with their teamwork, control, and love for the game most of the time. Everytime they start to have a very constant controlled team, one or multiple players leave to play for different NBA teams. There are many eras in the Utah Jazz’s history. The Stockton/Malone Era, Williams/Boozer era, Millsap/Jefferson era, Gordan Hayward era, and last but not least the Mitchell/Gobert era. Each of these players have proved worthy to their coach and team. The Utah Jazz plan to keep entertaining and helping lead Utah to the NBA championships.

Basketball History

Basketball History

Basketball is a multi-million dollar sport. There are professional basketball players, college players, and high school teams. Not to mention the fans are very supportive. Yet some people don’t know it’s history. Below you’ll find its history and it’s the founder.

Where/how it(s) was made/played

Basketball is a game played with a team of five team players on a court usually indoors but could also be played outdoors. Both teams try and make a score by tossing a ball around a rectangle court and into the opposites teams net, a basket. Basketball was invented by James Naismith about December 1, 1891, at the “International Young Men’s Christian Association” a training school that is now a college. Naismith was the instructor of their physical education class.

The first game.

The very first game of basketball was played in 1891. Naismith used two peach baskets for what is now called a hoop (basket)! Those two very baskets gave the sport its name! All of his students were enthusiastic about this brand new game for them to play. After lots of running and shooting William R. Chase made a mid-court shot the only score in that historic contest. The word spread fast of this newly invented game. Many associations wrote Naismith a copy of the rules and sent them to him to get his approval of the rules they have copied and written new rules themselves. The rules were finally published on January 15th, 1892 for everyone to see and later on play.

When it’s played.

Basketball is only competitively played during the winter- while it is played in many other places on a 12-month basis at playgrounds, church halls, family driveways, and many more places. There are many high schools, youth groups, gyms, churches, that have basketball programs for kids younger than high school age. While high schools and some middle schools have there owned basketball teams for girls and boys for them to join. Jay Archer of Scranton, Pennsylvania introduced “biddy” basketball in 1950 for young boys and girls under the age of 12, the court and equipment being adjusted for there own ages and skills.

How it changed.

In the early years of basketball teams, the number of players on a team varied according to the number of a class and the size of the rectangular court. In 1894 the teams began to play with five on the side when the playing area is a little less than 1,800 square feet. That number rose to seven when the gymnasium measured from 1,800 to 3,600 square feet which is 334.5 square feet total. Then up to nine players when the court exceeded that! In 1895 the number for the players on the court was set up to five, and it has stayed the same ever since – as you can see when you watch or play the game.

When it was introduced.

Since Naismith and his five players were Canadians it only would make sense that Canada was the first country to play basketball out of the U.S seeing as his team was from Canada. Basketball was introduced to France later on in 1893. Soon after it was introduced to England in 1894! Then Australia,  not long after China had begun to play and then India- therefore it was introduced to Japan in 1900. Now ever since basketball has been a huge part of the competitive sports area! Seeing that as we have 30 basketball teams throughout the NBA! Also seeing as we play competitively every winter!

Seeing that you know about Basketball’s history and founder, you’ll go see a game? Maybe you’ll even be cheering on the original team.
