The Elisa Lam Mystery

Elisa Lam was a 21-year-old college student from Canada with Bipolar Disorder. She was on a west coast tour &, on January 1st, 2013, she checked into the Cecil Hotel. The Cecil Hotel opened on December 20th, 1924, in Downtown Los Angeles. Ever since it opened its doors, it has been the center of too many issues making it one of the most notorious places in the US. It even hosted famous serial killers like Richard Ramirez & Jack Unterweger.

She initially checked into a type of hotel room where she had roommates but had to be moved because of odd behavior. We can get a grasp on what behavior they’re talking about in the security camera footage that went viral of her in the elevator taken on February 1st. If you have never seen it, the general rundown is that she walks in, presses most of the buttons to the floors, walks out of the elevator, walks back in. She then jumps in & out of the elevator, hides in the corner, slowly looks out, leaves, & starts doing hand gestures, & finally leaves the elevator for good. Mind you, during all of this, the elevator never once closed its doors or left the original floor until after she walked away from the elevator at the end. This is the last sighting of Elisa Lam alive. People were immediately worried, her family flying over to help look, her case being on the news, & police searching the hotel to the fullest extent. They even brought dogs on the roof, but they didn’t detect her scent.

18 days after the security footage the hotel starts receiving complaints from guests complaining that the water pressure is very low, tasted funny, & even discoloration of the water, some of the people’s water even being black. The hotel sent Santiago Lopez, a hotel maintenance worker, to check out the 1000 gallon tanks on the roof. There he found the lifeless body of Elisa Lam, naked with her clothes floating around with her. They were the same clothes seen on the security footage. To get on the roof you would need to enter with either a keycard or if the alarms were disarmed which only Santiago could do. After getting on the roof you would need to climb the ten-foot tanks, move the 20lbs lid, climb in, & close it again. This would be impossible since there wasn’t a ladder on the roof or any other way up there. She also could’ve gotten there from the fire escape but still couldn’t have climbed up there. The reason the dogs didn’t find her when they had searched on the roof, it’s because the lid was closed. The tanks are very tightly closed, & of course, they didn’t suspect the tanks at the time. That’s all we truly know about the case, but there are a million theories out there, some of those we will now go over.

 

Drugs

A theory is that she was on drugs or hallucinogens which would explain how she was acting in the elevator. This theory was quickly debunked however because a toxicology report says she was not on any drugs or alcohol.

 

Bipolar Episode

Since she had Bipolar disorder this was an obvious cause of death to many. She was off of her four medications according to the toxicology report, it would explain the behavior, & more. Though it still wouldn’t make sense how she made it up there since she was a small woman who wasn’t very strong.

 

Suicide

Another theory was that she killed herself because she was depressed. She had a blog where she was very open about her disorder, & many people think based on how she had been recently she did it herself. But, many things still didn’t add up with that theory.

 

Murdered by a hotel worker

This is one of the most plausible theories. In the elevator video, there is about one minute of missing footage & the only people who could have corrupted it would be staff members. In the video, she also could have been hiding from workers & stuff but stayed out of frame because they know where the cameras are pointing. They are also the only people who could get on the roof & could have easily pretended to be fixing something in the water tank so they brought a ladder, brought her up, dumped her body, & left. The workers at that hotel even had a history of sexually harassing, & in some cases, raping their tenants. An investigator said she seemed to have been strangled, & raped before her body was dumped which would explain why her clothes were off. The LAPD failed to do a rape test as well as a rape drug test.

 

Possession

Many people believe this theory because the Cecil Hotel is said to be haunted. Many people claim to have been choked by thin air, someone even dying by choking with no culprit. They think she was possessed & was forced into killing herself. If you believe in possession it seems fairly plausible but, if you don’t like most, it sounds dumb.

 

Elevator Game

The elevator game is a Korean game in which you travel to an alternate dimension. It is said that when you return you are extremely disoriented & confused which could explain her behavior. I don’t know much about the game, but the rules are to the right. However, she is never seen  playing the game or following any of the rules. 

 

Dark Water

A movie from 2005 titled Dark Water, perfectly portrays everything that happened to Elisa. People in the hotel were saying that their water was really weird, & then found a decomposing body in the water tank. In the movie, there were also elevator problems, & the main character was also talking to some imaginary thing. The main character was even wearing the same clothes as Elisa. The theory is that she or someone else wanted to recreate the events of this movie. We have seen this theory in many cases before, so it isn’t too odd.

 

Tuberculosis Test Coverup

At the time of her stay, there was an outbreak of tuberculosis in the downtown LA area. The strange thing was that the tests that were being conducted were called LAM ELISA. The main drug of treatment for tuberculosis is said to cause delusion & abnormal behavior. But, once again, the toxicology report shows she had no drugs in her system.

 

The autopsy report determined that her cause of death was accidental drowning but, we will never truly know. There are so many things that could have been investigated that were not. Believe whatever you want, either by researching more theories, creating new ones, agreeing with one here, or a mix of any of them. Unfortunately, We will never know what happened, & her family will always be asking questions.

Gum is everywhere. You see it all the time. There are so many different types of gum too. I doubt you will know all of the weird flavors. Come join me as we discover the amazing and funky different types of gum. Some of the items down below have been discontinued so keep that in mind as you read.
First up, I want to say that this paragraph is all from the Extra Dessert Delight line and it is all sugar-free. Now let’s dive right in with the gum flavors that taste like dessert. Let’s start with 3 of my favorite pies. They have Key Lime Pie, Banana Cream pie, and lastly Apple pie. Other desserts that they have are strawberry shortcake and Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. There’s also vanilla cupcake and rainbow Sherbet gum. They have cinnamon roll flavor too.
Next up is fruit flavor gum all made by the brand Trident. Let’s start with the mixed flavors of gum. First up is pomegranate and blueberry. The packaging for this is purple. After that, there is strawberry and lime. The packaging for that is pink. A tropical mix is lime and coconut. Another one is the Pineapple twist. Next, is Dragon Fruit Lychee. The packaging for this is light purple. Sadly, this does not turn you into a dragon. Lime passionfruit Twist has a tangy flavor and the packaging for this is light green. Island Berry Lime is strawberries mixed with lime and the packaging is pink. Lastly is Passionberry Twist. The packaging is yellow. There are lots of different kinds and flavors for fruit gum.
Let’s do holiday gum flavors. The first is cherry limeade. Next is eggnog. The packaging is in a green tin. The company Hubba Bubba has a gum flavor that tastes like hot chocolate. Ice Breaker has a cinnamon flavor for their gum. There is Thanksgiving gum too. One of the flavors for it is turkey. Another one is pumpkin pie and the last one is cranberry. There is green shredded bubble gum for Easter. Next, is birthday cake gum. There are lots of different kinds of holiday gum flavors that taste like the real thing except for the grass one.
As you can see there are a ton of different kinds of gum than just the originals. You can also have a whole meal by just eating gum just like in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”.

Early life

 Simone biles was born march 14, 1997 in Columbus Ohio. She has 4 siblings Ron, Ashley, Adria, and Adam. Simone’s parents struggled with Alcohol and Drug addiction. Her birth dad left her and her family when she was very little. Witch left her mom with 4 young kids to take care of. After a while, her mom couldn’t take care of her and her siblings. So she sent them to stay with her sister Nellie and Ron biles. Simone and Adria were adopted by them. The rest of her siblings stayed with their mom. One day Simones stepbrother took her to the Gymnastics place, and she started doing flips and tricks. A few weeks later Her step-parents put her in gymnastics. She was one of the best for her age. She was one first in many competitions. Simone stayed at Bannon’s Gymnastix for 11 years.

 

Adult life

 In 2013 Simone made the USA women’s gymnastics team. In 2016 she went to the Rio Olympics and won four gold medals and 1 bronze. In 2018 Simone went to the University of the people majoring in Business administration. In the 2020 Olympics, She was diagnosed with twisties and wasn’t able to compete. She still competed in a couple of the competitions. She won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal. In 2021 after the Olympics she went on the gold over America tour with her team. Traveling around the united states showed off her and her team’s skills. 

 

Awards

 Simone biles has won many awards through her years of gymnastics here are some of them. Over Simone’s career, she has had a total of 32 Olympic medals. in 2016 she won the BBC Sports Personality World Sport Star of the year. also, in 2016 she won the Glamour Award for The Record Breaker. in 2017 she won many awards. Best Female Athlete ESPY Award. Shorty Award for Best in Sports. Teen Choice Award for Choice Female Athlete. and Best Female U.S. Olympic Athlete ESPY Award. in 2019 she won the People Choice Award for Favorite Game Changer. in 2020 She got the BET Award for Sportswoman of the Year. in 2021 she won the Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Female Sports Star. Also, in 2020,2019, and 2017 she won Laureus World Sports Award for Sportswoman. Simone has won many more awards in her lifetime and is adding to that list every day.

It’s not hard to find yourself looking at a male model on the cover of Vogue or GQ, and thinking, “this guy is so fancy and gets all the ladies”. But in reality, he’s not much different from you. It’s just the way he chooses to look and come off to others is different from you. Everyone is different in personality and the way they look, but I believe everyone can look good. Some are better or easier than others, but it’s very simple to look good and appeal to others as a “model”. Boys, I got you. Today, I’m going to give you 5 simple tips to make you stand out from the crowd and make you a cleaner-looking person (in no particular order).

 

Accessories

A very subtle, yet clean and effective part of your game that not enough people consider enough. Little details can make or break the way you look. Wearing simple bracelets, necklaces, sunglasses, watches, and chains can compliment the way you look. They add a little amount of pop to what you already have and make you look fancy and classy. Without accessories in your arsenal, it almost makes it feel like something is missing from what you are wearing, and wearing subtle accessories completes your outfit. Smell

People will always remember you based on what you smell like, and that will also decide if they like you or not. It’s time you throw away the crappy AXE body spray and go get some real cologne. Michael Jordan, Paris, Acqua Di Gio, even Versace if you are looking for a high-quality cologne. Imagine being a girl and going on a date with a guy you like, and he smells like he just got done dumpster diving at the pizza shop across the street. It would be awful, right? It’s very important to smell as good as possible to attract others to you and want to be next to you. When applying cologne, spray it on the back of both of your hands, your chest, and the back of your neck. By doing this, the cologne is getting on your skin as opposed to your clothes. It will stick and stay on your skin, and get messed up if it’s on your clothing. I use this Versace Eros cologne.

 

Fashion/Dress

People will judge you at first strictly based on what you dress like. If you look like crap, they most likely will not even consider getting to know you better or be interested in you. Wearing outfits that look clean and match will turn heads and interest others. There are all kinds of different types of clothes and ways to wear them, and that’s where it gets fun. Mixing and matching outfits based on what you like is fun and switching it up often will always give people a fresh look at you. A person who is more athleisure may want to invest in some PacSun shorts and T-Shirts, as well as hoodies. Someone who likes more baggy clothes will want to look into hoodies, skater pants from Dickies, shoes from Jordan and Nike, the options are limitless. 

The shoe game is also essential, a person who rocks dirty shoes will not get nearly as much interest and respect from others as they should. Make sure you keep it simple and clean and try not to overdo it. Jordan has always been a staple in the shoe game, and they have hundreds upon hundreds of pairs of shoes to pick from for roughly $125-$150. Vans is another big shoe brand, but they are much cheaper, roughly $30-$60 for some very good quality shoes. 

Lastly, the hat game. Hats are something I pride myself in, I tend to buy a lot of hats for around $45-$50 every month. I pick from all different colors and designs so I can mix and match them with different outfits. Wearing and buying multiple items of the same color will not add flair and variety to your outfits. From pink to black, I have many different fitted hats, they add a very unique part to an outfit I don’t think people think about enough. 

There are all kinds of ways to look good depending on aesthetic and body type that I won’t get into, but the fashion game is arguably the most important key to standing out.

 

Hygiene

Hygiene should be a basic essential in everyone’s look. Think of it as a foundation for a house, you should be building everything off of hygiene. I know that part of it is genetics, and not everyone will end up looking like Michael B Jordan, but keeping your skin and hair healthy can be done easily. Shampooing your hair every other day and applying conditioner to it will keep it in good shape. Also getting a haircut once a month is important, maintaining shape and shaping up your head will refresh everyone’s look at you and clean you up again. Making sure to shave and trim up your mustache and/or beard is necessary, and if you are looking to grow out a beard or mustache, keeping that in good shape is important as well. 

There are many different types of skin routines to pick from, some more effective and expensive than others, but they are all an option. Here is a 5-minute video from Alex Costa giving his basic skincare routine.

Showering every day at least once must not be skipped, especially if you tend to work out a lot. Showering will help with hair and skin, and refresh your whole body, and will make you feel a lot better as well. Also putting on deodorant to block out body odors from sweat is crucial. Girls smelling B.O. off of you will immediately give them the impression that you are unhygienic, and that is the last thing you want.

 

Body Build

A man who is bigger than everyone stands out in a crowd, and if you want to be that guy, you must be willing to work to get it. Going to the gym at least 3 times a week for an hour a day will help build muscle in your body and make you look better. Everyone is built differently, whether you are skinny or bigger built, but I believe everyone can get gains in the gym and build and develop muscle. Make sure to not work the same muscle back-to-back days, as you will need a full day for your muscles in a group to recover, so make sure you switch from the upper body to the lower body on back-to-back days at the gym. Also, girls take notice of veiny arms. They for whatever reason find it very attractive.

We live in a society where everyone judges eachother off of first looks and impressions, and in order to succeed that way, you must look clean and be presentable, and by following these tips, they will help you achieve that.

 

The Skinning of Katarzyna Zowada

The Skinning of Katarzyna Zowada

 

0-1.jpgOur story begins on January 7th, 1999, in Kraków, Poland. A large tugboat is chugging down the Vistula river when one of the operators has to open the hatch to the propeller to get something out. It seems as though something had been stuck in it since the night before &  but hadn’t worked itself out yet. Expecting to find debris or branches the operator is stopped in his tracks. Not sure what he’s looking at, he thinks it is a pale sack. Then he noticed the human ear at the top of the sack & the rancid smell. 

 

00.PNGUpon further investigation, it was confirmed that those were the remains of a Polish 23-year-old religion study student named Katarzyna Zowada (cat-er-a-zee-na). Her legs were missing as well as her arms & face. What was found was just her torso connecting her neck & ear. But what was even weirder was that it was like a skin suit. As in she was skinned, & a bodysuit was made out of it, leaving all the internals behind. This is why the operator thought the body was a sack. The medical examiner concludes that this portion of her skin had been in the water for roughly 2-3 weeks before getting stuck in the propeller. Investigators found a part of her sweater at the scene & one of her legs was found nearly a week later in a dam. 

 

The Investigation

It’s concluded that Katarzyna was Skinned alive & a lot more. It is also discovered that she was reported missing on November 12th, 1998 but police told her mother to hold off. They assumed she had just run away. She was going to Jagiellonian university but two weeks prior had stopped attending. At the time though she wasn’t missing because people were still seeing her, she just wasn’t going to class. She had been diagnosed with depression as well after the death of her father in 1996. All of these combined led her mother to be extremely worried about her wellbeing for those two months before her body was found. 

Investigators & experts from other counties were eventually asked to help because they had no leads. Even the FBI helped for a while but still nothing. The case was then dropped about a year later & considered cold. It isn’t until 15 years later, in 2014, when the FBI decides to take another look at the case. 

 

The reopen

In 2016 they decide that the murderer must have been trained in a specific type of martial arts because of the way she was beaten but they never disclose how she was beaten or what that has to do with martial arts. In 2017, 19 years after the murder, police finally arrest after finding new evidence. 

The man was 52-year old Robert Janczewski. He lived off of the bank where Katarzyna’s body was found, he fit the profile, & was trained in martial arts in this specific category. He also knew Katarzyna before the murder. In the past, he worked in a dissection lab so he knew how to dissect human bodies. He had also worked at a zoology lab, specifically how to prepare animal skins. He was even fired from that same job for killing all of the test rabbits during one of his shifts for no reason. He was even a person of interest in 1999 but was not looked into enough.

The police were made aware of Robert because one of Robert’s friends had written them a letter about him and the case. The contents of the letter were never disclosed publicly beyond that quick summary. 

 

What we do know (TW)

Although much of the case remains a mystery, we do know how it all went down or at least, how she was killed. Experts concluded that she was beaten profusely, had her groin, armpits, & neck cut, had her organs taken out, limbs cut off, skinned, and mind you, all of this occurred while she was still alive so she felt all of it. She would eventually die of blood loss. 

 

Current status

To this day, Robert has still not been charged & is in jail until his inevitable trial. So we still don’t truly know why he did it or if it was even him. The case is still going but justice is yet to come.

In India, there are several temples of ‘Bal Ganesh’, ‘Bal Gopal’, ‘Bal Krishna’, ‘Bal Hanuman’ ie Childhood of God. According to Hindu philosophy, a child is considered to be form of God. India is better known to be the country of Dhruv, Prahalad, Lav-Kush and Abhimanyu, the children having talents wisdom, intelligence and warrier ship. Apart from this, present day picture of poor Indian child is very dark. The poor child is the most neglected, most exploited and the most abused. Female child is the most deprived and under privileged of the whole class of such children. The girls are not only withdrawn from schools and forced to indulge in child labor but they are even dragged in the prostitution.

Child labor is violation of human rights and is considered to be a ‘necessary evil’ in any country in the whole world.. It hampers their normal and natural physical, mental, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, moral and social development. Children are doing work as domestic servants. They are employed in hotels, workshops, service stations, shops, construction sites and pulling rickshaws etc. They are even working in hazardous and unhygienic forms of labor in manufacturing factories.

Article 24 of the Constitution of India, 1950 says, “No child below the age of fourteen years shall be employed to work in any factory or mine or employed in any hazardous employment”. Indian legislature has also enacted the Factories Act, 1948 , The Children Act, 1960, The Child Labor (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 etc. for the protection of rights of children. Article 45 of the Constitution of India, 1950 casts duty on the State to pendeavour to provide free and compulsory education to the children. Article 25(2) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights also states about the special care and assistance for the motherhood and children.

For the past few years, work done by the Government of India and the States Government in this issue is praiseworthy. Many new schemes and policies are introduced for the education and betterment of the children. But, this problem is still in existence in India even though all these policies are available in India.

There may no other opinion that child labour should be restricted and if possible completely vanished. It is a socio-economic national problem, which requires close analysis and practical solutions to meet with this burning question.

Here are some good anime to recommend to your friends and this is why you should recommend them. 

 

  1. Haikyuu!!: The reason why you should recommend this one is because it doesn’t have a lot of episodes, it is entertaining, and it is good for any anime newbie.

 

  1. Cowboy Bebop: You should recommend this one to a friend who likes science fiction, western things, and noir films. This anime is very entertaining and funny. But I would recommend it to an older crowd.

 

  1. Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199: This has been described by others as a military science fiction space opera. (I don’t have much to say about this; I’ve never watched it)

 

  1. Samurai Champloo: People who love jazz and hip hop will love the soundtrack of this anime. The animation style and locations they use are amazing. This anime is cool and fun to watch.

 

  1. The Promised Neverland: If you lie to your friends about this anime then they might want to watch it even more. You may think this is a heartwarming story when this story is not very happy. I hope you enjoy watching this anime.

 

  1. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: This is for people who like action-adventure, science fiction, and fantasy. Possibly anyone could like this show even if they aren’t a big fan of anime.

 

  1. One-Punch Man: This one is an amazing action-comedy. The jokes in this show are hilarious and the animation is very smooth and fluid. The fact that when one punch man shows up and just slaps a guy in the face and goes flying is just hilarious to me.

 

  1. Death Note: First of all, L’s theme is a bop. Second of all, you all need to watch this anime. Make sure you are ok with hearing cussing while watching this because it curses sometimes.

 

  1. My Hero Academia: First, this anime is dope. Second, you need to watch this anime. Third off there is cussing in this one.

 

  1. Attack on Titan: This one is a little bit more mature but I would say it’s ok. It does have some nudity and some cussing and blood.

On the morning of June 4, 1942, an event occurred that changed the course of World war all over the northwestern Pacific Ocean, the battle of Midway. This event was mainly fought between the Japanese navy and the American navy. Midway is a small island in the central Pacific Ocean, around 1,300 miles northwest of Honolulu. Before World War ll, Midway was just a small island with very few inhabitants. There are many reasons that Midway was such an important part of World War ll. One of them is that an island as big as midway would be a great airport for Bombers and other planes to land and refuel. If either side had this island it would be a huge advantage.

 

Why was Midway so important?

Midway was such an important role for many reasons. One, it could be used as an airport and a harbor to refuel planes and boats. Two, if either side had midway they would be able to travel across the ocean safely with enough fuel and attack the targeted enemies. Three, If either side got it they would constantly have the upper hand. Four, the most important reason of them all, if Japan had Midway they would have almost 60 percent of the pacific ocean as their territory. This would give Japan a chance to continue expanding and bring their troops to invade America. Midway would also be very important to America. The article Jun 4, 1942 CE: Battle of Midway Begins states, “Code-breakers were able to decipher Japanese naval code, allowing American leaders to anticipate Japanese maneuvers.” With an island like Midway America would be able to uncover many of the Japanese offensive plans.

 

How did the battle of Midway unravel?

On June 4, 1942, the battle of Midway began. The Japanese Military had not lost a battle in over 50 years, they had even devastated America during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. They did not expect to lose now. In the article Battle of Midway begins – HISTORY it states, “ Yamamoto’s plan consisted of a feint toward Alaska followed by an invasion of Midway by a Japanese strike force.” The Japanese thought that when the U.S. fleet would show up to counter the Japanese invasion they would just be waiting in the west unseen. Then they would destroy the U.S. fleet just like they had in Pearl Harbor. But, 200 miles northeast, two different U.S. naval pacific fleets caught the Japanese by surprise. They destroyed three of the Japanese carriers and they destroyed one heavy cruiser. The only Japanese ship that managed to escape the surprise attack was the Hiryu. It used all of its aircraft against the U.S. task force and managed to do nearly fatal damage to the U.S. carrier Yorktown. Later at around 5:00 PM, the US managed to strike back and leave the Hiryu destroyed by morning.

 

How it all came to an end

When the battle of Midway had finally come to an end, the Japanese had lost up to four carriers, 292 aircraft, and a single cruiser. They suffered around 2,400 losses. The U.S. hadn’t suffered such severe casualties, they only lost 2 ships, around 150 aircraft, and lost about 300 casualties. In the end, no one took home the victory, but the U.S. did finally have their first offensive victory, which changed the entire course of World War ll. In August 1942, the U.S. continued to push back against Japan taking over many other Islands all the way to Iwo Jima. 

 

Conclusion

In conclusion, on the morning of June 4, 1942, the battle of Midway took place. Japan and America fought over an island that would give them a huge advantage, which could have possibly been a huge role on both sides. Naval ships, planes, and troops fought for up to six days on end. Strategies were used by both Japan and the U.S. but in the end, the U.S. pacific navy ended up coming out on top. Up to 8 total ships were lost, around 440 planes were shot out of the sky, and around 2,700 men were lost overseas. After all of the losses and of sunken ships, the U.S. managed to take over midway, use it as an airbase and continue to conquer Japan.

Things to make with Thanksgiving leftovers

When you’re done with thanksgiving dinner and you stock your fridge and there’s no more room, you need to get rid of some food right? Wrong! All you need to do is make some new dishes using leftovers. Then you get new food and more room in the fridge. 

 

 The leftovers

Turkey is the main dish and assuming that it was Delicious then you can make a Turkey sandwich. All you need is a dinner roll, some mustard, mayonnaise, and some turkey and if you want to add more flavor then add some salt and pepper. You can also use leftovers for lunch the next day. Another thing you can make is a Thanksgiving ring. (recipe at the bottom). You can also make Turkey noodle soup Instead of chicken noodle soup. You could make some turkey cheese dip (recipe at the bottom). Another thing you can make is roasted Turkey lasagna (recipe at the bottom).

 

 The dessert

 One thing you can do with a leftover dessert is make an apple pie milkshake. Just take a slice of apple pie and blend it up with some vanilla ice cream. Another option is to make is leftover hand pies that are not like tiny pies. You could take some of your leftovers to some family members or friends as well. Something I suggest doing with the desert is just eating the desert and enjoying it for a second time. You could make cranberry carrot muffins with your cranberry sauce as well. Rocket League

If someone mentions to you the name “Rocket League”, unless you have heard of the game, you will most likely think it’s a game that has “rockets” and it’s some sort of league. Nope, not even close. 

 

Rocket League is a game that essentially could be named “car soccer”, let me explain. “Car soccer” is essentially a game where you are placed in the third-person view of a car. This car can do many things your normal car can’t such as; (double) jumping, flipping, boosting, and flying in the air. 

 

The game arrived in stores for $20 in mid-2015 and was a small game. A sequel to the infamous game, with the infamous name, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. or SARPBC, try pronouncing that.

 

The entire game was placed inside a boxed-off stadium and had little “egg” people in the stands cheering and bouncing up and down. Customizable cars and goal explosions are also an option. These customizable items have different rarities, starting from uncommon, then going to rare, very rare, import, exotic, and finally, black market. The game’s currency is called “credits” and is $1 for 100 credits.

 

The game just recently went out in stores as “Free To Play” and that brought an UNHEARD amount of players, sometimes having over 1 million players online at a time! Since then the game has declined in popularity, but still racks in more players a day than before the game went free to play. 

 

Mechanics

The game has many mechanics that involve such things as I mentioned before. The basics of these mechanics are:

 

  •  Ariels, hitting the ball while in the air
  •  Wave-dashes, front flipping before you hit the ground to propel yourself forward
  • Double taps, hitting the ball into the back wall of the opponents net
  • Air dribble, dribbling the ball in the air
  • Dribbles, carrying the ball on top of your car without it touching the ground
  • Flicks, flicking the ball while dribbling.

 

Now, these are the bare bones, almost anyone can do these things mechanics. Some of these are harder than others, but most anyone above the rank of platinum can do ALL (or should be able to). 

 

Speaking of ranks, in the competitive playlist, depending on how good you are, the game will give you a rank. Every win you get, you get a certain amount of MMR (MatchMaking Rank). The higher in the ranks you go, the harder it gets, or longer it takes to get to that next rank. Ranks have levels to them, there is division 1-4, and different levels for the actual name of the rank.

Now the juicy stuff, the actual Esports. Rocket League has had some form of Esport since the first year it came out (mid-2015) and has had many graphics, mechanic, and community changes. This includes changes to the pros, and their level of skill compared to the “Average Joe” Over time the number of pros has increased, and with that, it brought more and more teams.
